I bought this system (with the stereo speaker) to replace and aging Panasonic mini system that sounded great, but whose aux-in and cd has stopped working. Despite what the market seems to think, some of us listen to a lot of OTA radio, and wanted something that sounded good but could also connect to bluetooth and aux input. The general build quality, design and most importantly sound all get high marks. We turn off the loudness for any spoken word (public radio, podcasts) and turn it on for music because it can be quite loud and booming, plenty for apartment living

Good sounding, but sometimes difficult

 With the remote control, you can adjust the bass and treble. Because the speaker calibration is bass-heavy, especially on AM, I turned the bass down and the treble all the way up. The sound is bright and rich out of the single speaker.  The on/off button is the tiniest I've ever seen

  I recently acquired a vintage Magnavox D2999 shortwave radio, and the AM and FM on that radio just blows this one away. I could not wait to get rid of it. I was also unhappy that it arrived with batteries in the remote control, as well as a bid dent in the satellite speaker grill. Both signs that I received either a demo, or a returned radio

 You will spend hours trying to position the speakers to get a good sound field. My other complaint is the audio. It sounds like 4 KHz, or possibly 5 KHz bandwidth, and to my older ears was decidedly murky sounding on AM. The treble control has limited range and simply could not compensate enough to make the AM acceptable

 First, there is no balance control. If you want to use this with the speakers more than 4 feet apart, or at unequal distances, forget it. You will spend hours trying to position the speakers to get a good sound field. My other complaint is the audio

 The bluetooth works well. Also the remote control is very convenient and has very good functions (bass and treble controls for example). Although it was disappointing for AM which is a majority of my use, it may serve you well if you use it mainly for FM and playing music via the bluetooth. The sound is quite good

 The AM reception is not very good. This radio does not cancel out interference well. The background noise depends on other appliances on the same electrical circuit. It depends on whether I have my coffee maker on, depends on the time of day, and whether I have my kitchen fluorescent lights on

 The good points of this radio are it's FM reception and the good quality of music on FM band. The sound quality is quite good on FM or on music played via bluetooth. The bluetooth works well.  If I turn on the lights in my dining room, which have a dimmer, the radio can't be listened to because of background noise. My Crane radio is much better for AM and has far less background noise, with better reception. The good points of this radio are it's FM reception and the good quality of music on FM band. The sound quality is quite good on FM or on music played via bluetooth

Not good for AM reception

 Bluetooth connection is easy enough and works well, important to me. Some of the programming and setup is a bit arcane, but not too bad. May take you an hour to do it all. Forget trying to use the automated time setting, as it produces some strange offsets that I could not overcome, but you can simply input the date and time manually

Nice overall sound quality - decent bass, and produces large room volume without distortion. Highly selective tuner gets a clean signal for critical listening - not as common as you'd think, especially if you live in an urban setting with many closely adjacent channels. Mine seems to temporarily lose some of its status and programmed time settings, display settings, if you walk across carpet and touch the power button (static discharge?) but dpes not lose the station settings. Be sure to touch something to discharge yourself before operating the radio

Nice unit, good audio and feature set with some quirks.

 Gripe 2: There is no balance control. For me, that's not good. Otherwise, this is a great radio that looks nice and sounds wonderful. Add a balance control and it will be almost perfect

Beautiful FM sound with a quirk.

The music sound is superior to my Bose Wave IV in my opinion. I can increase or decrease this unit's bass and treble while the Bose only allows a slight decrease to the bass. It is hard to tell if there is stereo sound even though the radio station indicates it is broadcasting in stereo. My one disappointment is that the sound cannot be balanced between the speakers though I knew that when I purchased it
