Sawyer S3 water filter and purifier put to the test

So I bought the S3 filter as a back up/addition to my steripen. I haven’t used it yet on the trail but I have set it up and proceeded through the “first use steps” outlined in the instruction Manual. The first few flushes produced a black tinted water which, when I called the Sawyer hotline, they explained was normal. Afterwards, I drank some water and it seemed fine
