5 millimeter that is an output that is variable with the volume knob and this will be your first input that'll be your primary input, but it will be taken over if you plug something into this. So I leave this completely unplugged at all times and the setup that I'm basically running with it right now is I haven't plugged into my computer via this and then I have an output going to my speakers in the back. so I'll show you what that kind of looks like. Okay, and then if I play a video here fifties by Sennheiser's okay and then basically what the inputs do or I'm sorry the outputs is that will play out the back until you plug something into this quarter-inch and then once you do that, it'll start playing out over the quarter-inch and once you pull it out, it'll start playing out the back again

 How does it sound? Well, honestly, it sounds pretty clear. it's a good word I would describe it. So end up sending the first model back is basically what I'm trying to tell you now. I Got this model

 This thing is phenomenal. I Mean it really is just the complete package for me, partly because it has two separate inputs that are changed depending on what you have plugged in. I got these a year or so ago and have felt absolutely no need to replace them with anything else, they're as good as you're going to get at that price.

Having said that, I'm looking to pair them with a JDS Labs Atom at some point and would be intrigued to see what people here think about that paring..

HD58X finally came!

I ordered one of these and had to have the first replaced.  The first one had a volume knob that was tilted several degrees off-center and it made a lot of scratch noises when used.  The replacement had a straight knob, and no scratch noises. After some usage it developed the scratch noises and they seemed to get progressively worse, but at a very slow rate

  There was power to drive my headphones somewhat adequately, but not satisfactorily. The sound quality was okay for the price. I liked using it best in my car. It would act as a booster between my phone and the car stereo

  The replacement had a straight knob, and no scratch noises. After some usage it developed the scratch noises and they seemed to get progressively worse, but at a very slow rate.  There was power to drive my headphones somewhat adequately, but not satisfactorily. The sound quality was okay for the price

Could Have Been Leagues Better With Minimal Changes.

Works fine, except there's a ton of static when you change the volume, which seems like a basic core function to get right for $120. You can get over that because most of the time you're not changing the volume, but there are also occasional artifacts, such as a low hum that can be pretty annoying if you're listening for quieter sounds, and on rare occasion there is a quiet cracking sound that can be confusing while listening to music. Most of the time it works fine, but when it doesn't it's pretty distracting for me and makes me want to just temporarily not us the DAC.

I plug them into the RME ADI-2 directly, which has plenty of power, and sometimes I switch to the Valhalla 2, which really changes things. Here's my collection of headphones, so far. [I posted my DAC/AMP setup earlier this week](https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/l9qfmk/my_endgame_setup_perhaps_nowhere_to_go_from_here/), and here's what I got for ***cans***. Hope you guys/gals like it.

**Senn + DROP HD6XX:** Pretty much my "daily driver" for Zoom meetings and listening to music while working. I have it pretty much hooked up to the iFi Zen DAC + Zen CAN all the time, with the suggested "tweaks" turned on - both xBass and 3D Sound. It sounds very good on that setup, and it's my go-to for everyday. I like it a lot, and I don't have problems with the mid-to-upper range like some people do (piercing sound, or anything like that).

**Focal Elex:** I got lucky and these are working just fine for me from DROP (despite all the quality problems reported by many customers). I absolutely love them - they sound great, with great punch on the lower range, and as far as dynamics go, they're my first choice for rock, pop, indie, etc. I enjoy its sound for games, but it's mostly my main driver for music. Most of the time, they're hooked up to the RME ADI-2 + THX 789, but I often give them a listen plugged to the Valhalla 2, which adds a lot of warmth to the sound.

**DT 177x GO:** My go-to for evening listening when I can't afford to bother the kid or my wife. I really like the way these sound, even though I'm not in love with it. I tried a bunch of different pads on them, and ended up settling on the leather ones - the velour ones were incredibly hot. I tried the XL perforated ones, and they were pretty uncomfortable. They are so easy to drive that I basically plug them to whatever is available. There's just something that... bugs me, when I wear them. Not sure if "flat" is the best way to describe it, but they're just not that exciting to me. I'm hoping to replace them with a Focal Celestee for my closed-back needs.

**HiFiMan Ananda:** I'm a big fan of planars - I had an old HE400S (since gifted to a friend), and decide to skip the Sundara, going directly for the next step up. The Arya was a bit out of budget, so I settled for the next best option, and I absolutely love these. It's my planar alternative to the Elex for music listening, specially jazz, classical, and other genres. I love the soundstage and imaging. I really dislike it for games, though - it's way too bright. Pretty much plugged to my RME ADI-2 + THX 789 whenever I use them.

**HD 800S:** The big boy, amazing for games, amazing for music. Enough said, they sound quite different from my other top two headphones in my collection (the Elex and the Ananda). They're extremely comfortable, to the point of being too loose. I plug them into the RME ADI-2 directly, which has plenty of power, and sometimes I switch to the Valhalla 2, which really changes things. Love these, and whenever I go for long listening sessions (1h+), I go for them.

**Aeon Open X:** For my tastes, they require quite a bit of EQ. They're... pretty good, not amazing. One thing of note, though: they are very comfortable, and while a bit bulky, with some EQ they sound very good. They're a bit of the black sheep here in this collection, and I don't get to use them as much as I'd like, but when I'm looking for some variety, they're my go to plugged to the RME ADI-2 for that EQ goodness.

**Senn + DROP PC38X:** Got these in yesterday, and so far, so good. I might switch to them for Zoom meetings as the microphone is very convenient, and they sound very good for the price. What I did really like about them is the imaging - it was a substantial upgrade to my other cheaper headphones (including the POS Sony PS5 Pulse headphones, which sound horrible) for games. More testing is needed, though. Always hooked up to my Schiit Fulla.

So, there it is. Next step is going to be the **Focal Celestee**, and then... I don't know, I think I'm done. Or at least I'm hoping. :)

My collection, from gaming headsets to the high(er) end - dunno what's next

It is OK good. Noise when turning knob.

I was disappointed in this unit because the sound from it is noticeably worse than from my ASUS ROG motherboard comparing at 24-bit/96kHz. It's not bad, just not as good as I was expecting for the price of this thing. The DAC seems to not be very accurate and makes things sound a bit "flat", and the headphone amp seems to have a brutal bass roll-off from like 120Hz down. I had to go into windows sound settings and give it a 3dB bass boost for it to sound neutral

Hello fellow audiophiles. I was wandering around this sub for a few months. Thanks for all people who gave advice. I gathered this setup lately for office use and I really like it. I can pump up the volume and complete immersion without distracting noise. I really enjoy working with these. Schiit Fulla 2 - Tin Hifi T2 - Kirlin 2615 3.5 - 6.5 converter. Also I use Deezer HIFI. What more can I want? (Maybe better headphones in future but I think this will be my endgame for  a year or two) 

The only thing that bothers me is Fulla's Micro USB input. I do not have good experiences with Micro USB's from my mobiles and bluetooth headphone chargers. They break easily.

My 150 USD office setup that I am really proud.

 Would’ve easily gotten 5 stars, except for 2 things. Mine did have some static when adjusting volume on the right channel. If you pull the volume knob off (just pull straight up, it’ll come off), and squirt a tiny bit of WD40 right on the volume pot, it’ll go away, at mine did. And the other thing

Nice little Amp/DAC.

This amp sounded really good running my 250ohm Beyerdynamic dt990's but the faintest movement of the input cable or the output cable to my desktop speakers or even to my headphones caused complete losses in sound. I literally opened the box as soon as it was delivered to me and plugged it all up to try it and it immediately started showing me it's worth. It's almost as though all my cables going in and out of the device were defective at their joints- which they weren't. Shiit really screwed up on this device as I've read numerous reports of other people running into the same situation- I thought I'd be able to work around it

 Definitely not worth the price. I could've bought a cheaper device, gotten the same sound quality and had at least 75% less headache. Needless to say, I already printed my return label.
