The Sea to Summit Comfort Plus Insulated Camping Air Mattress is a double-layer 4-season sleeping pad for backpacking, camping, winter camping, and bike touring. The Sea to Summit Comfort Plus is the only pad in our review to utilize two separate air chambers allowing for different pressure and density for fine-tuning one's sleep surface. Even sleeping pads offering four inches of cushion just don't have the same adjustability and ultra-high level of comfort you can achieve with this pad.
The Air Sprung cells, coupled with variable density chambers and a high R-value, make for one heck of a sleeping pad. The only real downside is its weight relative to our highest-rated warm sleeping pads. It's not one we'd recommend for the gram counters out there. If you seek lavish comfort while backpacking, this is the pad to buy, but it comes at the cost of packability and weight.

Sea to Summit’s Ether Light XT Insulated above is our favorite pick for side sleepers, but for a solid all-rounder it’s worth checking out their Comfort Light Insulated here. In contrast to the horizontal or vertical baffles of most air pads, both Sea to Summit models have an innovative cell design (dubbed Air Sprung Cell technology) that maximizes surface area connecting the pad to your body, resulting in better support and weight distribution throughout. Importantly, the Comfort Light Insulated tacks on a second layer of cells at the torso, increasing warmth and comfort where you need it while minimizing weight and bulk everywhere else. And like the Ether Light XT, the Comfort Light features a wider shape than most designs (21.5 vs. the standard 20 in.) and relatively durable face fabric (30 &amp; 40D).

When deciding between the Comfort Light and the Ether Light XT above, there are a few things to keep in mind. As we mentioned, the Ether Light XT’s 4-inch loft is ideal for keeping side sleepers off the ground, and the pad is lighter by over 4.5 ounces (which also translates to less bulk). On the other hand, the Comfort Light here is a bit warmer despite its thinner design—particularly from the hips up—and offers a plusher feel than the slightly more rigid Ether (especially for back sleepers). Neither pad can match the warmth-to-weight ratio of the Therm-a-Rest or Nemo above, but the added comfort of the Air Sprung Cells will be well worth it for some.  This pad has a dual layer, design that ensures redundancy. If you end up with a puncture in one layer, the other layer remains fully functional. You won't have to worry about waking up on the ground on the rocks and you can easily patch that puncture the next morning with the included repair kit, that's huge along with that.   My issue is not with quality or comfort but rather with the design. I feel like it's a gimmick and gets away from the reality of cold weather sleeping.

Cold Spots

 What these valves are like the top valve is what you open up, and there's no air coming out of this right now, and this is what you attach the bag to when you're wanting to put air into it. You just take this and place it in there and then you fill your bag with air and once you detach it, there's no air coming out of it, but if you decided that you wanted your mattress a little bit more comfortable, this is the top side. You know if you decide, you want a little softer. You would just press this little orange button in there and that will let the air out - and it's the second tab here - that you open up in order to let the air out the only thing left to do is to fold it up

 So here is my new mattress. This is my brand-new sea2summit comfort, plus insulated, regular sleeping pad, and it's a rectangular comes in at a whopping one pound 13 ounces, so I'm just bringing less food and carrying a little less water. This here looks like okay, let's open it up. This might be the last time I ever see it like this, because I can never get them back into the stuff sack, but we'll see repair kit, it's a really really pretty red color

 You know if you decide, you want a little softer. You would just press this little orange button in there and that will let the air out - and it's the second tab here - that you open up in order to let the air out the only thing left to do is to fold it up. I want to see if I can get it back into it. Here'S the true test did sea2summit make it, so i could actually get it back in its own bag and the answer is yes

 The fabric on the comfort Plus is nice and quiet. A really cool feature is the pads double layered design. It may take a bit longer to inflate than a single layer pad, but it's worth it to no you'll have loft underneath you all night long, it's kind of like sleeping on two pads, even if one of the layers leaks, there's another layer, keeping you off the Ground, it's a really smart design. You get two and a half inches of loft with both layers fully inflated, and you can let out a little bit of air if you prefer

 Second is for customization of firmness. Fill both chambers relatively full, then close the valve on the bottom while leaving the top open. You can now press the orange seal in while laying on the pad to modulate how soft/firm the pad is. Cool feature!

 - My favorite feature is the dual chambers for inflation. Think of the pad like a hamburger bun - the separation between top/bottom halves is the same orientation as the pad's 2 air chambers. This is nice for 2 reasons: First is durability. If a hole develops in the pad while you're sleeping, you still have a second chamber to keep you off the ground until you can repair it later

 I do like to camp more in the winter, but i want to extend that a little bit into the months of say, september october in april and may outside of that it's too hot down here in texas, so i'm gon na see how this holds up. I used to have the comfort light and the comfort light insulated, and i really liked those, but i wanted something: a little beefier um for the actual winter months as well as um, something a little bit more comfortable. This pad has an r value of four. This is the regular length, it is two and a half inches thick

 If you do it right, if you blow too close to this thing, you're not going to get the full effect of inflating the whole bag. So what you want to do is keep your face or your breath about a foot away from it and you'll get a much easier, full bag. So now we'll do the underside and there you have. It - took less than four full blows of this

 I have an upcoming trip that i'm looking to test this on. I know this is more of a winter pad, but i sleep pretty cold even in the summer, so i wanted to give this a test as well as to see if it was going to be a good backpacking pad for me more year round.  So those are included up here. They'Ve got the place where you can attach the pillow lock system that just keeps your pillow from moving throughout the night. If you are someone who tosses the turns like i do so what's cool is that this pad has a top inflation section and a bottom inflation section, so there's two valves benefit of that is so that if one section punctures, you still have your other section to Help insulate you off the ground, but these pads are also very durable, so you're likely to not get a puncture, but if you do there is also that repair kit, let's inflate this guy. So if you look at that, just for the top layer, you probably only need one and a half or two pumps of this
