I have two dogs and a very muddy back yard so my pets track in a lot of dirt and it’s unavoidable. I sweep and vacuum almost every day and I’ve been through 3 vacuum cleaners and they just can’t handle this much dirt (without cleaning the vacuum out after every single use). Any recommendations for a vacuum that is hardwood and carpet compatible and can handle large amounts of dirt without? Any price point! I am so frustrated and desperate at this point!

Two weeks in and I cannot recommend it enough! Sebo D4

Hi folks, I'm curious on how effective the Miele bagless vs bagged canister models are based on others experience. 

I live in a fairly large house 4,300 sq ft with about 60% carpet and 40% hardwoods. My concern with a bagged model is that I'm going to have to replace it all the time. I have 2 very hairy Golden Retrievers and they produce a ton of hair around the house. I'm replacing a Dyson upright bagless (one side of the roller stopped working). I would have to empty it at least once every time I vacuum. 

At this point I'm not concerned about price for the actual model - I just want something that is going to last and actually be effective on this dog hair, especially in carpets. And I don't want to have to order new bags every week unless it is really worth it.

Miele Bagless vs bagged

Sebo D4 all day long. Large bag, great filtration, larger diameter hose, large reach without needing to unplug it, and lasts forever.

My current vacuum is a Dyson ball but the filters get super dirty really fast and they are expensive to replace.

I am looking for something that can handle the dirt and dust from 5 dogs in a dirty backyard while not breaking the bank on new filters. House is 90% hard wood floor with some large rugs and one bedroom with carpet.

No price limit, I'm tired of buying 50$ filters every few weeks.

Recommendations?

Need something powerful for 5 hairy dogs and 5 people

I got a Lupe, a robot vac and a Sebo D4. Lupe and D4 blow the robot out of the water. Lupe has really good suction. If all I had was hardwood I would only use the Lupe

We have a robot vacuum, so we're looking for a small "regular" vacuum of some sort.  I like the idea of a stick vacuum.  They're cordless.  Compact/easy to store.  Portable.  Good for spot cleaning.  Was looking at Lupe Pure which they compare a lot to the Dyson V11.  Also looking at Miele canister vacuums. I remember my grandma having either a Miele or something that looked very similar and it felt pretty portable to me.  Don't like having a cord, obviously. I don't love the idea of bags, because of the waste.  But they do seem less messy to empty... among other things.  And, like I said, we already have a robot vacuum so we wouldn't be using a "regular" vacuum as much as we used to.  So the bags probably aren't really that big of a deal in the end.  I'd really love it if I don't have to buy a "regular" vacuum for a couple decades after this.  Max budget is probably $600 tho.

Our house has wood floors, tile in the bathrooms.  We have a couple of rugs.  Short to medium pile.  We have two dogs.  One short hair (she's about 40 lbs), the other medium length hair with a double coat (Corgi).  We also want something we can use to vacuum out our vehicles.

We are moving to a new house soon and are looking for a decent vacuum, but would also like to be able to clean our current one before we move! Our last vacuum was a Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Lift Off. It had great suction, but we have long hair and 2 cats, and the hair was always tangled in the brush roll and the brush roll burned out frequently. It was more of a PITA to clean the vacuum.

Our current apartment is mostly carpet, with a kitchen and bathroom that has tile. 800ish square feet. 

Our new house: 1400ish square feet. Unfinished basement, hardwood floors in the living room and on the stairs, tile in the 2 bathrooms and kitchen, carpeted in the upstairs hallway and in both bedrooms.

We don't have a budget. Preferably looking for something with a hose attachment, if possible, something not too bulky - our last one was so clunky, but since we will have a bigger place bulkiness won't be a huge issue; that can clean hardwood floors, tile, carpet, stairs, and can handle long hair and pet hair.
