The frequency

I'm buying a vaccum for the house for Christmas and don't know where to start.

Budget wise, if it's quality and will last for years I'm actually open to anything. It's a house gift so a couple of us are going in together for it.

Our home is mostly carpet apart from kitchens and bathrooms (but we never use the vaccum for cleaning those). The issue we've faced is each room has different kind of carpet. Living room is what I would call standard, the baby's room has "cashmere carpet" (longer and hard to push some vaccums through), downstairs has very short carpet.

We also have two toddlers and two fluffy dogs.

Ideally we want something that's easier to push around, upright preferred, that works.

Will take any recommendations!!

Looking for a lifetime vaccum!

Woah, nice! I like the look of these SEBOs. The white is perhaps my favorite, although I like them all from this design era. That black X7 is gorgeous as well.

I just moved to a new house and I'm looking for a new vacuum around a &lt;$500 budget. Mostly hardwood flooring, 2 floors and a basement w/ lots of stairs (should be easy to move around) and most importantly needs to be used very frequently for lots and lots of dog hair.

Vacuum recommendation for 2f house

 There're 3 vacuums that I think could work out well in that scenario. These three are single motor semi-commercial uprights that place an emphasis on user-serviceability and durability.

* Decent hose setup, manufacturer recently added a longer hose (check if your shop has these before you buy)

 I think their performance is fine, not spectacular, definitely no better than a Dyson or even a Shark. I think that the Sebo is a niche vacuum for enthusiasts. There’s a reason nobody has heard of it in America. 

After much time spent in the vacuum rabbit hole I ended up getting a Sebo X7 (which is an updated version of the X3) and a Sebo Felix and I was so so underwhelmed by their performance. They are extremely well built, but that’s the only thing that sets them apart from a Dyson or even a Shark. I think their performance is fine, not spectacular, definitely no better than a Dyson or even a Shark. I think that the Sebo is a niche vacuum for enthusiasts

Don't think my story is very unique- I needed something to replace a failing Miele of almost 20 years and decided to check out Reddit. After falling into a rabbit hole and learning a lot, I think there are two contenders for what's right for us.

Our single storey home is about 90% [this tan carpet](https://imgur.com/a/jm73qKs). I think it is medium pile as it's not flat like what we have at work but it also doesn't feel fluffy like a rug would be. The rest of the home is wood but we don't really vacuum that, preferring to sweep it up instead. We have one small (indoor) dog with short fur and unfortunately we also have someone allergic to dander that our dog brings in and we can always tell if it's vacuum time by when she starts sneezing.

Really liked the [Sebo K3](https://www.sebo.co.nz/sebo-premium.html) since it looks like it has great filtration, is a fully sealed system, has a nice strong powerhead, is made in Germany, and comes with the airbelt which should really help since I've already taken chunks out of the corners of our gib plasterboard with our old vacuum. A bonus looks like it is also compatible [air fresheners ](https://www.sebo.co.nz/product/606031) that Sebo sells so should freshen up the air a bit.

My only hang ups are the price and the low popularity of the Sebo brand in a domestic market where I am from. Everyone I have talked to for advice hasn't heard of Sebo or has recommended something from Miele, Dyson, or some other household brand. I'm also concerned that it might be a bit overkill for a non-enthusiast. Since I'm not the only one vacuuming, would a complete layperson have to struggle with a certain aspect of this unit?

Other units I am considering are:

* [Miele C3 Cat and Dog](https://www.miele.co.nz/domestic/vacuum-cleaners-1784.htm?mat=11071460&amp;name=Complete_C3_Cat%26Dog_PowerLine_-_SGEA3) This is a whopping $530 US cheaper than the K3. Seems to be a little weaker but still a HEPA/Sealed System and comes with a decent looking powerhead for carpet.
* [This Wertheim 7 Series and Evolution Stick](https://www.godfreys.com.au/wertheim-7-and-wertheim-evolution) It's a bagged vacuum AND a cordless stick for the same price as the K3. If I am spending K3 money, I wonder if getting this bundle would be a better value. The 7 Series looks to be on par with the Miele C3 and is HEPA but I'm uncertain if it is a sealed system. Same thing applies for the Evolution stick- looks to be on par with the older Dyson V11s and Samsungs but not sure if it is also HEPA/Sealed. Furthermore, this brand seems even more unknown the Sebo. There's like one search result when I type in Wertheim on this subreddit!

Please talk me out of a Sebo K3 (Australia/New Zealand)

Hi folks, I'm curious on how effective the Miele bagless vs bagged canister models are based on others experience. 

I live in a fairly large house 4,300 sq ft with about 60% carpet and 40% hardwoods. My concern with a bagged model is that I'm going to have to replace it all the time. I have 2 very hairy Golden Retrievers and they produce a ton of hair around the house. I'm replacing a Dyson upright bagless (one side of the roller stopped working). I would have to empty it at least once every time I vacuum. 

At this point I'm not concerned about price for the actual model - I just want something that is going to last and actually be effective on this dog hair, especially in carpets. And I don't want to have to order new bags every week unless it is really worth it.

Best vacuum ever,no need to look any further

 The design philosophy behind the Automatic X models was to make a durable commercial upright that's as intuitive and simple to use/maintain as possible, so this means that you don't get stuff like a manual height adjustment or brushroll shutoff. Basically, it's the perfect machine for a hotel housekeeper that's cleaning each room as quickly as possible.

Based on your needs, I don't think the X7 or G5 are the SEBO models you're looking for. I've owned the X2 (the X7's predecessor) for almost a decade, and it's basically a carpet only machine that can clean non-delicate floors surprisingly well in a pinch. Hello, looking to get a premium vacuum for my home to help with allergies, pet hair, and overall better cleaning. I am interested in the x7, however I’ve heard the automatic brush roll height can make fine particulate hard to get. This is where the g5 comes in because it has a manual height adjustment. Is one preferable over the other? Also at some point we will be removing about half the carpet in our house with hardwood floors leaving only stairs and bedrooms with carpets. How well does the x7 do on hardwood floors? Thanks!
