I've waited as long as I could to write this review because I wanted to see if I could approach it from a long term perspective. This scooter has worked great and been a great mode of transportation for me in Downtown Dallas. It folds up and fits under the train seat perfectly and stays completely out of the way of other passengers. I had no problems for the first nine months and everything worked amazingly

. I got a response from tech support with ways to clear the code. The solutions did not work BUT, I emailed them back saying I was still having issues and they got back to me SAME DAY. So once the support ticket is being worked, they stay on top of it

When we decided the solutions did not work, I was transferred from tech support to Segway customer service and they we on the ball! I got an immediate response with a pre-paid shipping label to send it in for service (since it's still under warranty). They gave me a timeline as to how long it would take (12-16 days) and sent me an email as soon as it shipped

Great scooter, but fails after prolonged use

  I'm one that actually likes the electric brake that is the left thumb. My boy and I are still getting used to the power it has when turned fully on and even when using it at different rates when summoning up the braking power. By and large, I have never even needed to use the rear, friction footbrake as I'm never a fan of having to wear away my tire, just to slow down. At the same time, it just means that the electric brake has been more than enough to keep me out of trouble

 It is heavy duty. The handlebar controls are plastic but, Segway sells the replacements for all the handlebar parts and it would take a 2nd story fall or full speed into a wall or barrier to bend the steering stem or the deck. Even all the LED lights under the deck are recessed well into the solid aluminum chassis. The build quality is all there, at least externally

 I'm glad I went with the ES4 as between the speed/top speed, nice acceleration in either normal or sport mode and the great range. When I go out for a ride, I'm going out for a ride and a 10 mile or less range was not going to cut it. That we can get a good 20 miles, on mostly level ground, not needing to go slow as cruising from 12-17 mph is almost effortless, and to be able to swap out the external battery in the field to get 10 more miles, the ES4 was a good choice.  It has only been a month with the scooter and less than 100 miles

 Even all the LED lights under the deck are recessed well into the solid aluminum chassis. The build quality is all there, at least externally.  I also like how most all the parts that make up the scooter are available. I can imagine eventually needing a new internal battery and maybe a front wheel motor but the other big reason I chose the ES4 is for all the replacement parts that can be gotten should wear and tear and time take their toll on the original equipment

Pictures, amazon email, emails to there emails which had all the dates and facts of the case. No I'm not a lawyer, but I have seen many on TV. Sticking to the facts, we conversed and I was given a case number

  Cons:  1. Battery life and Actually to and from is affected by body weight, the Es4 is rated around 25 miles out but if you're heavy this compromises things, though not by much! I'm about to travel 15 miles out because of my heavy frame/body while An average, skinny human can get the full range. 2. Takes a long while to charge 3

1 Year Later

 It has both front and rear suspension which gives a really nice ride, although I wouldn't try going over any serious cracks or bumps. You'll hear a cracking sound when the front tire hits the bump; that's the front suspension bottoming out doing its job. It's kinda loud and a bit jarring but the suspension keeps on trucking like a champ. But I wouldn't try my luck too much
