Going to Cozumel soon to dive. Noob here with only 10 dives. I want to buy gear but honestly I don’t even know where to start.

Shearwater Peregrine, mask, booties, and fins. That’s all you really need. If you only plan on going diving two or three times a year, it probably makes more sense to rent than purchase, at least until you have a better understanding of what you like. There’s really no point in spending the money on gear and then maintenance every year or two, when you’ll spend less money renting.

The lowest model I suggest i the Shearwater Peregrine. That runs $510 these days. It is a high quality color screen computer, IME color screens are the easiest to read underwater. It has features which allow it to grow with most divers until they reach the most advanced edges of diving.
