Recently invested in this setup in the last 2 months. Previously the best I’ve owned was a Shure SE846 and Sennheiser HD660s driven by a chord mojo. Clearly this setup is better but hitting diminishing returns for sure. Unfortunately the weak link is the turntable and it immediately kills the soundstage compared to the D90.

ConclusionClearly, I loved my experience with the SE846. I'm not sure I know many people with a true appreciation for balance in music and audio that would find much wrong with these earphones—especially given the ability to customize the high-mids and highs to your liking, very easily, using the nozzles.

_______________________. **Shure SE846 IEMs**: I love these IEMs. I used to have a pair of Westone UM Pro 50's, which didnt sound _quiiite_ as refined, however the Westones were far more compact and low profile, and they are very easy to wear for 20 hours at a time without any ear pain. Other than that, I love these IEMs and they are quite impressive for non-custom / molded IEMs.

You don't get the best value with $1000+ headphones. I'd pick IE 900 over the Se846, IEM technology has evolved a lot in the past 5 years.

The noise cancelling however isn’t as great as the more expensive headphones and same goes for comfort. They are very light but not as comfortable as I would like them to be. But yeah I’d say close to audiophile level sound (I own a pair of Shure SE846 IEMs and Audeze LCD1 open backs so I think I can tell what sounds good).
