the sig had generally higher ratings and also a lower price... that's typically a winning recipe for govt contracts. some people also view it as a make good, as the sig p226 narrowly lost to the beretta 92 in the 80's. the sig scored slightly higher but the beretta was cheaper. that said there are still US military units that use glock, including SOCOM and SEALs, who both use the glock 19 at times.

My EDC is a Sig P226. The G2C was my only gun for a few years and I actually bought it when I was about to move halfway across the country. In the 3 years that I’ve had it, it’s never jammed, stove-piped, or had any issues. It’s accurate to a degree, does what it’s suppose to, and it’s good for range time.

if you dont like glock, look at the cz sp01, mp series of pistols, full size hks, full size fns, sig p320, sig p226, or any other full size pistol. for the full size pistols with weapon light, you have more capability with a full size than a compact, less recoil, and a tab bit easier to use, you get an extra weapon that is semi auto incase:.

You can’t shoot what you cannot see, you generally shouldn’t shoot what you cannot identify. It sounds like your hand fits fine on Sig compact frames. The Sig P226 has an “E2” grip module (with altered hammer spring retaining hardware) that comes factory nowadays which is much slimmer than the original P226 size.

They were SIG Sauer P226 9mm before going to P226 .40 S&W. Essentially sometimes the pistols will match but it generally is different and it also depends on what the department can afford and or what they decide to carry depending on what the best pistol is for the job and or the offer given. However sometimes agency command staff can also make the decision to change to a type of sidearm if needed like Bill Bratton did at LAPD by making them go from Beretta 92F 9mm to Glock pistols due to him apparently having issues with the Beretta and his hands or something of that matter.

A Sig p226 with a 15+ mag would be my choice. Something to keep in mind is that since everyone uses 9mm it became really hard to find during a pandemic. Ammo diversity can be a good strategy to have.
