 But would you use your Tv as a center channel? I wonder how it sounds versus an average speaker? I'll have to give it a whirl, but both of these items are missing on the A80j. And last but not least, on the differences is that remote. I've already spoken about it, but if you're in the dark, I'd highly recommend that backlit remote for any Sony Tv. It's pretty nice, and I hope more Tv companies catch on to the backlit remote

 I'm gonna go over the look and the features of this Adj showing some of the differences from the A90j as well as how it compares to the Lg G1 Gallery Oled that I just happen to have it mounted above the A80j. Sony Bravia XR A80J Series OLED TV Review

It should not be more crisp. Apple TV and the Nvedia Shield are the best for outputting content. Personally the TV apps are serviceable but if you have a dedicated streaming box there is a difference. 

But I would double check your Apple TV Settings. It should be as follows in Video and Audio

Format: 4K SDR
HDMI Output: YCbCr
Chroma: 4:4:4
Match Content: should be On for dynamic range and frame rate. 

If you have all the settings you should be golden. I use a monoprice HDMI cable for mines and tv looks great. It could be the cable but I highly doubt it. 

Just for reference I used the Apple TV 4K on my LG C7 and Sony A80J. The picture it great on both. Sony pops just a little bit more but that’s because of the processor. But regardless my C7 looks great and since you have a C9 with a newer panel it should look better than the C7.

the only app I know of that's definitively better on the LG is YouTube.  LG can do 4k/60, while the apple tv can only do 4k/30.  the 2021 apple tv fixes this and can do 4k/60.  all other apps should be the same or better on the apple tv.

I have an LG C9 and have always used an Apple TV 4K (2019 version) as the main source for content. 

I was watching a movie on Netflix the other day and decided to use the LG native Netflix app and noticed that the resolution is more crisp than the Apple TV. 

I thought it could be the cable but I use a mono price  2.1 HDMI cable. I am curious if it could still be the cable or is the LG Netflix app simply going to outperform the Apple TV since it doesn’t require a cable? 

If anyone has any ideas as to how I can get the same resolution out of the Apple TV as through

 So to try this out, we're going to go to settings, account and sign in, our account, we're going to remove the account, and as you can see here, the only option you get is to remove the account and reset the device. So that's what happens when we do that. I can already tell the picture settings changed. So now that we're signed out, or I guess it's going to restart real quick

 So to test this out, we change the hue in the color settings to something that's quite awful, just so we notice an immediate difference once we sign out of the TV to see if it saved the settings or not. As you can see here, hue is all the way up to 50. So to try this out, we're going to go to settings, account and sign in, our account, we're going to remove the account, and as you can see here, the only option you get is to remove the account and reset the device. So that's what happens when we do that

The update is supposed to be released this Winter, but I'll believe it when I see it. You should always buy a TV with features that are available day one instead of waiting on promised features. Who's to say when the promised features are made available, they work without a hitch. I honestly believe TVs would have to be held to a better standard if they weren't Smart TVs with the idea of oh, we'll fix it later. If you want HDMI 2.1 features ready out of the box, I'd look elsewhere. Good luck!

all tvs this year are a compromise in one form or another, for the premium customer. So, after research and general brand history, my opinion is that Sony is the most likely of the TV brands to backup a promise, and this particular bet seems the safest.

I'm staring at a Samsung Q70R as I type this.  I bought it because it fit my needs at the time, but there are several shortcomings I wasn't expecting, and one that I was.

1: The one I was braced for was Samsung's [crosshatch dithering](https://www.flatpanelshd.com/pictures/Samsung_Q90R_Sony_AF9_03.jpg), which they implement deliberately as it supposedly improves the viewing angle.  It also sacrifices resolution, killing the whole point behind getting a 4K display.  Fortunately, this dithering gets (mostly) turned off if the TV knows it's in "PC mode".

2: One I wasn't expecting is that in addition to crosshatch dithering, all Samsung TVs also implement a horizontal line dithering, where every other line is bright/dark/bright/dark, but only with specific colors, such as blue or orange.  [The Belle-Nuit test chart makes it easy to see the consequences of this issue.](https://i.imgur.com/pZBqcLW.jpg)  This cannot be disabled, and is even present in "PC mode".

3: A third issue is Samsung's hyper-aggressive global dimming, which is such a catastrophe that even a decent chunk of everyday TV users have complained about it, yet the only way to disable it is by entering the TV's service mode to tweak settings, _and then_ you have to be in "PC mode" on top of that.  What I wasn't expecting is that Samsung TVs don't believe you're in "PC mode" if you use any refresh rate other than: 29.97, 30, 59.94, or 60 Hz.  So let's say you want to watch a movie at its native 24 Hz.  Too bad: Here comes Samsung's global dimming!  It's so bad that some scenes, like [this starfield in _Ad Astra,_](https://youtu.be/F7hRfb5zxl8) get literally [crushed out of existence](https://youtu.be/I9WDnXyIH4k).

4: Last but not least, even though the Q70R supports VRR, it does not support Nvidia's VRR.  Rtings.com misled visitors into believing it did, for close to a year, before eventually—very belatedly—correcting their data.

It is because of that mishap, plus Sony's inexplicable slowness in catching up with the times, that I'm going to be very cautious when it comes to choosing my next display.  I have read that some of Sony's newest TVs "have plans to support VRR in a software update".  I have already seen cases where a planned software update turned out to be impossible, screwing all those involved.  So if anyone has any hard data on this, that's sort of what I'm after.

As for the dithering thing.  I've scrutinized TVs for years.  Sony is in an entire bracket of their very own, in that they're the only HDTV maker who refuses to corrupt their display with dithering shortcuts.  If absolutely nothing else, I am counting on them for this, and it's the reason why I'm probably getting a Sony next.  Plus, NGL, it'll be nice to leave behind Samsung's _ridiculous_ global dimming nonsense.

What's the status with VRR? And why I'm considering Sony

 I can’t really run an Ethernet cable through the wall, so I need to make a decision fast.

 Sound is impressive. Google TV works great and the Live OTA guide with ATSC3.0 is really cool. But I’m considering returning it since I’m facing a quite annoying know issue with Wi-Fi turning off or losing connection almost every day

Amazing contrast but constant Wi-Fi issues
