Like most Sony models, the HDR-AS50 has a very good image stabilizer. It provides a simple, intuitive interface, so you can get the camera up and running in a jiffy. The video quality is good, as is the audio quality. The battery life stretches to 100 minutes. Like the other models on this list, this Sony survived our dunk and drop tests, but the company also sells an additional protective housing that it claims will keep this model dry up to a depth of 197 feet. For a little bit extra, you could opt instead for the Sony HDR-AS50R, which includes a wrist-mounted remote and an LCD screen.

Good Performance, Specs. & Delivery, But Bad Quality

 I am a big fan of Sony cameras and Zeiss lenses. I use a Sony rewards credit card to earn "Sony points" just so I can buy Sony camera equipment, so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to try this camera.  I love the wide-angle lens, the small size, the waterproof housing, and especially the near-field wireless watch-band remote (a great feature). You can control the camera remotely, with this little "tv screen" you can wear as a watch

 Bummer Sony!  Remove even more stars this time. It's still a good camera but, after install a new battery, just like the first time, only works once. The new battery charged at full capacity, use it normally, dries out, store the camera as asual with the battery in it. When a try to charge it again, nothing

Now I must spend money on and a replacement battery, no way the original OEM one, too expensive. Bummer Sony!  Remove even more stars this time. Excellent Action Cam choice!

The video quality is almost as good as the HDR AS200

 The image stabilization works well, and assuming you have good lighting, the image quality is quite nice.
