TVs of this size are usually hard to find in this price range, and they're limited to entry-level and budget-friendly models, but this one offers great value. The 85 inch model performs like the 55 inch variant we tested. It's a well-built TV with a sleek design that should look nice in any home theater or living room setup.

Picture quality is good because it gets bright enough to fight glare and make highlights pop in HDR, and it has decent reflection handling if you want to use it in a room with a few lights around. It also has a high native contrast ratio and excellent black uniformity, so blacks look deep and inky. However, there's no local dimming feature to improve the picture quality in dark scenes. If you're a gamer looking for a large screen, you should be happy to know it has HDMI 2.1 bandwidth and VRR support after you update it to the latest firmware.

Unfortunately, it has a narrow viewing angle, so the image looks washed out if you sit too close. Also, it's not ideal for using it as a PC monitor because its large size results in a low pixel density, and it doesn't properly display 4k @ 120Hz signals with chroma 4:4:4 either as it cuts the vertical resolution in half. If this isn't a problem for you, it's the best large TV for under $2,000.

The 6 Best 4k TVs Under $2,000 - Spring 2022

 This Sony comes with a remote that still includes a numeric keypad for punching in the stations. I feel this is easier to use than holding the up or down arrow to scroll through tons of stations. We are new to the streaming world, so just learning our way around. By keeping our local cable company, the channel numbers stay the same, so my non-tech husband is happy he can find all his Sports channels with no trouble

 And based on many reviews, getting the 120 Hz speed seemed important. After much deliberation, we chose the Sony X85J which is a 2021 model as we preferred not to go over $1,000 Purchase Price. Could have purchased a 2022 model with only the 60 Hz speed for $200 less but the salespeople insisted that was old technology and to have seamless fast motion, 120 Hz was the way to go.

Expected More

 When I actually went to place the order I realized that the difference in price between a 43" TV and a 50" was almost nothing and so I ordered the 50. It arrived and I quickly realized that it was too large for my bedroom which meant that I had made my first mistake. I decided to plug it in and I did watch it for a bit so that I could decide if I would simply exchange it for the Sony 43". This gave me pause

 I am writing this not to knock Sony but to express my opinion that the size of the TV may have alot to do with your brand selection. It certainly did for me.

 I knew I wanted a 43" as so I looked them all over and decided that the Samsung QLED gave the LG OLED a run for its money and was certainly an improvement over the Sony. The couple of hundred dollar savings was a plus but really not much of a factor. I am writing this not to knock Sony but to express my opinion that the size of the TV may have alot to do with your brand selection. It certainly did for me

Sony is not what it used to be!!

        The sound from my apple tv not work, i didnt change anything from my old tv setup. The appletv plugs into the sony dvd player, and then the dvd eARC plugs into the tv. The tv and dvd also have an optical audio cable link. With this new one i had to plug in appletv directly to the tv to get the sound to work
