Received Card Affected by Known Defect

 Two stars until I find this was a rare occurrence, and I can trust this, or a replacement (which I will get if it happens again within the 30 day return window).  UPDATE: A 2nd card failed like the first. Your pathetic replacement offer, Sony, just makes me more angry.

 I didn’t make any great effort to recover the lost files, but reformatted the card, and will watch carefully to see if it happens again.  I don’t suspect the card is counterfeit. I’m careful about who I’ll buy from. I also don’t suspect the camera

Something’s Wrong

Rated at ~ 300 MB/s, Actual Speeds a bit Slower

I bought this card because most cards have a "lock" which at times will not allow images to store to the card. This is fine if you catch it, or set your camera to identify, but the first time you lose a great image you will be completely disappointed in other cards. I shoot outdoors in dusty and at times wet environments. This card is good

NO OFF SWITCH...no issues with card lock

 Cards are fast, one piece and rigid, no split in case. Upon initial use the cards do fit more snug than other cards, this went away after several card removals and re-insertions. I will not buy any other SD card now.

Toughness

 The real value in these cards (in my opinion) is not the fact that you can submerge them in water or that they are metal. It’s the fact that Sony effectively eliminated the two most common mechanical failure points in SD cards with the Tough card design.  Number one is that stupid “Write Protect” switch. Nobody I know uses it, and if you shoot all day, every day and pull your cards in and out of your camera like 4x - 8x a day

Staff photographer for a Honolulu-based publisher here. These are probably my favorite SD cards EVER. Transfer rate is fast, never had an error message or lost data. Bought my first one about 9 months ago, now have 5 64gb & 1 32GB Tough cards

 No issues running 4k/60 on the XT3 and buffer clears FAST in high speed drive modes.  Durability wise this thing is literally a wafer of machined aluminum. Its reassuringly solid and jingles like a coin when you drop it on concrete. Its definitely gonna be “tougher” than a plastic SD card but a determined person could still bend one with their bare hands

 It happens to our Sandisk, Lexar, and Sony SD cards with switches all the time. It’s pure genius they just ditched it. The Tough cards should last longer because of it, making them a better value in the long run.  Number two are those stupid little thin plastic guide tabs to the sides of the gold contacts on the bottom of the card

An excellent SD card for high-volume professional use

 I wouldn't try to snap them in half with wire cutters, but for the most part, they can withstand whatever you throw at them.  So while I would prefer to use cheaper SD cards..

 Since videos and photography are how I make a living I really can't afford SD card failures. The Sony Tough Cards are the clear, and most expensive, choice.  Notes-  - As others have noted they are thicker than a standard SD card. I have no problems using them on my computer, but they **barely** fit in some of my cameras

This SD card has the best reviews across nearly all reputable camera review websites. It is nearly always rated as number 1. My decision was not based on the advertised specs but rather "real world" numbers/specs (very few SD cards can meet their advertised specs in the real world). This card was purchased for my new mirrorless camera and is primarily a backup/overflow memory card

Probably paying for the name but at least it is a good name :-) Note that I am not a professional photographer but do take a lot of vacation and family pictures. The card's specs are much higher than a camera can utilize (at least at this time) but it will keep me ready for future camera firmware updates

 When connected to my computer, this card is blazing fast compared to standard SD cards. I highly recommend this card.
