I'm still pretty happy with s30v (or s35vn) as the sweet spot in edge retention and ease of sharpening.

 But it's now over a decade old, and knife-making has come a long way. I'm here to tell you about why this might not be the right fit for some people's daily carry anymore.  1. In the past few years there's been a renewed focus in the knife industry on making smaller, lighter knives that carry better and are thinner behind the edge

  5. They develop a some vertical and horizontal blade play after breaking in, due to the way that the compression lock works. This is especially true if you want the pivot and stop pin loose enough to be fidget friendly, and who doesn't want that? It's not a huge amount of play, but it's more than most of the other knives I own.  6

 It's not bad, but I'm not impressed.  The bottom line is that, for me, the PM2 is just too chunky for an everyday utility knife. In it's quest to do everything, the PM2 doesn't excel at anything in particular. I have other knives that are better for my needs in suburban/urban carry, camping, or tactical-last-ditch use

Why I Sold my PM2

Bruh!! My wife found another prize with her Laundry Biz! This time a Spyderco! It’s like I get to try before I buy! When this happens I send a note back with it to the owner.

 What makes this knife so pricey is the fantastic blade steel and "Made in U.S.A" status. Overall unless you have to have an American made Knife I would look at their Taiwanese and Japanese or even Chinese made knives first if you can get over the inferior materials

He used to carry a knife everywhere, but lost it before we met and never got a replacement. He backpacks and is just getting into survivalism. Also used to do some woodworking. I'd like to get him something fairly nice and durable. Ideally could be used often/carried around. Don't mind spending money if it's worth it!

Best Knife to Gift Boyfriend

Disclaimer- I haven't used this knife yet. This is just an initial impression review. First I want to say the one I got isn't a fake, 99% sure anyways. It wasn't open, has all the indicators poi ting towards authentic

 The blade grind appears to be perfect and it's pretty sharp ( feeling, I haven't used it) out the box for a factory edge. I have lots of spydercos and I think this feel of this one is my favorite. Its way lighter than it looks, and thin too. Some people thing there ugly

Pm2 makes me happy

Cheap Casio, not cheap tanto Spyderco PM2, and sEmi-cheap CRKT minimalist cleaver. Both knives are bladeHQ colabs I believe. There are gonna be in my pockets for a while I expect

Really liked the big Crooked River for its weight and feel. But I noticed the downside to the axis lock with such a long grip. Can't really use my thumb to fold knife effectively. I've always been a fanboy of the Spyderco PM2 but I've lost mine at work, so I hope the pink lanyard would help me find it easier since I have a habit of setting it down and losing it
