I did try a Squire classic vibe 50s Stratocaster but that didn't do anything for me. The neck on it was quite slim and felt kind of I Guess how you'd expect a a Squire to feel in a way where as I picked this guitar up at the box and immediately it gave me a feeling like yeah I want to play this in a lot so you can see this in probably a bunch more videos if you do, watch my channel regular I guess you'll know that I've got you know, like asserted a Caster I've got a Kaline Springfield Stratocaster various Fender Teddies and Strats I've played so it's not like I only played cheap guitars but I guess the guitar can be a great guitar whatever price

 but I just wanted to say if you've got a chance to check out J Mascis Jazz Master even though it's a Squire, that's what it says on the headstock. to me, it feels like a quite special instrument. It's got a nice matte finish on there on the neck pickup. Sound good to me

 everything about the guitar works. I Didn't really know any of the specifics, but it's a good quality instrument. a lot better than the 415 Paris tank might suggest. And now it's buy from Me and buy from Fenton Fenton [Applause] Oh [Applause] [Applause]

Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster REVIEW || Punching way above its weight

I've been seeing people rave about the j mascis jazzmaster for years. Maybe not quite as authentic/original as the CV, but I think it sounds pretty damn close.

I've been dreaming about buying myself my first offset guitar for years now, I'm thinking about jazzmaster, with a vintage feel.

Ideally I wanted to buy a Fender Vintera Jazzmaster, but they are damn expensive and really hard to find where I live. Practically no second hand ones available. The new one costs about $1160 on Thomann.

My second option is Squier Classic Vibe, which is much cheaper ($471), but I don't want to comromise on quality too much. And I'm not gonna lie, it would be nice to have my first actual Fender instrument after 10 years of playing guitar.

The third option is Fender Player Jazzmaster ($722). The price and availability is alright, but it's not designed to mimic vintage guitars. I don't like the look of regular humbuckers in it, it appears like it doesn't have those switches next to the pickups. Maybe if I replaced the pickups to more vintage, low-signal ones it would fulfill my expectations in terms of quality and "vintage" feel?

What do you think? Is Vintera really worth almost 2,5 times the price of Squier CV?

[QUESTION] Looking for Jazzmaster to buy, can't decide between Squier Classic Vibe, Fender Vintera or Fender Player.

 This shape is comfortable, the neck scale seems to be a little bit longer and it's just, you get used to it really quickly and I just really like that a lot. I said in the first video that I made about this guitar that I was able to pick it up for about $350 and realistically I don't think that is a typical price for this guitar. I was looking at the reverb listings earlier and they were going for anywhere between $400 and $500. Some people are even able to sell them for more than $500 after they upgrade them and such but I think if you can manage to be patient and grab one for about $350 to $450 I think you've pretty much got one of the best guitars on the market in that price point in my opinion

So whenever I first picked up this Jazzmaster my intentions were to play mainly Praise and Worship, pretty much any kind of music I need to like add to break up tones for and then just write really cool like jazzy clean stuff. That was pretty much the main reason I bought this guitar, I never saw myself using it in an overdriven context at all but probably more than any other instrument I have in the studio

 It's really weird. I've gotten really into Beartooth recently so I've been trying to write some hardcore tunes and stuff and this is really the only 6 string I have. I threw some 10s on this, tuned it down to Drop C and threw it through some Josh Middleton, I think Arkon, Kemper Profiles and this thing just sounds super beefy, it goes really well with any kind of metal or hardcore stuff and then you know you can switch it to a different profile and then you can play any kind of clean stuff and it's just really really mind blowing how versatile this instrument is and that's not something I saw coming at all really. So, I really don't know what else there is to say about the Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster

 It's better than any of the ESP, LTD stuff I have, it's better than the Made in Mexico Telecaster that I play at my church, it's even better than my Eastman T386 on the wall and that's a thousand dollar guitar and I much prefer this neck. It's kind of like a satin gloss finish and it just, it's so comfortable to play. Hey so I got my first electric last week and think it would be cool to have a big collection of various guitars. Until I get really satisfied with how good I am, I’d like to keep them $500 or less. Right now I’ve got a Fender CD60LH and a Schecter Omen Extreme 6 LH. 

How would you rate a Squier at $500 or less? Quality guitars? I’ve heard they are really good these days. As long as they don’t feel like a cheap toy I may look into them. Plus if they aren’t too expensive I’d be more open to trying my hand at modding.

Uh, the thing I may have mentioned is, uh, the the idea of having two distinct circuits or whatever how, that's what they say all the time is for the rhythm. meaning you have your your volume, your tone on these little dials for the neck pickup and the switch. I like

 and I, you know that's the one thing I would love to kind of tame a little bit of that, but that's always the problem when you're using a lot of drive as far as my experiences are concerned, and it doesn't really even matter what the guitar is. Most of the time you're always going to have some buzzing or humming issues. It's just pretty extreme on this one sometimes. So um, those are all things you can kind of figure out workarounds on and I think I may take this back to get some shielding done and maybe try pickups

 and none of them because my other main guitar is a Paul Reed Smith hollow body with humbuckers. So um, this is a great, you know, addition to those two other guitars that I'm talking about. Um, tone wise. you know, clean wise on the the neck

 um, I would hope they're trying to achieve this sound, um, or as close to it with maybe some some tweaks. So anyway, thanks for all the support, thanks for watching these videos.  and that's why he made it. really. The shape, the body shape. He made it to be really comfortable playing when you're sitting down and not standing up

 If so, you said it's only the neck I would like. Now I'm trying to see what's the difference if I have the neck down here and the next tone five. Well first I have all full all four all through the same settings. Okay, what really the difference is? Let's see now I'm still in the upwards position

 Actually cool. So it it gives pretty much this this woman tone I really like from Clapton. or let's see Switch. Can I do some Bbq? [Music] Yeah, I think I think for this you don't have to switch guitars

 it could do the job. [Music] I like it on the game channel. clean, not so much. but on the game channel I think uh it really serves a purpose there

Squier J. Mascis Jazzmaster - Buddy Review

 You also get the build quality questions that come with purchasing a Squier that might lead you to replacing the pickups, bridge, etc.

 So if you want to save a bit of money and you're not in a rush to get one, it's definitely worth checking all the selling sites, especially if it's collection only and it's lucky enough to be local to you. You can get yourself a bit of a bargain, but you know if money's no object five to six hundred quid. Somebody listed one of them for 800 quid recently, but he since dropped it down to 650. but they definitely look like they're turned into a bit of a collector's item

 That's a cheap guitar, but yeah, that's a good price. Personally, I think they're worth between four to 450, but you know, people obviously paying up to 600 quid. So if you're lucky enough to live in the Bristol area, there's a cheap one there. So yeah, that's the prices currently on Ebay what they've been selling for what they're currently advertised for, so it looks like it's turned into a bit of a a cult classic

 You can no longer buy them new. Um, they had a good run with them for a good what six to eight years? something like that. And they really are cool guitars. Personally, if you're looking for one, try and get one before 2018 ish when the societies come in, you'll have the rosewood fingerboard the ones after that Indian laurel

 I love the sound of the pickups on them. It's got the tuna matic bridge. They've got a lovely feeling neck jumbo frets which my favorite vintage tuners. They are very cool so this brings me on to my next point

So, I'm not really a total begginer, but I only have an acoustic guitar, not an electric. While searching to buy my first, I find myself indecise between a Fender Squier Stratocaster and a Fender Squier Jazzmaster. Besides the different pickup positions and differences in tone (which I honestly have a VERY hard time noticing), I really don't know anything about these two guitars, so could anyone help with this decision? Keep in mind I really don't know anything about guitar parts besides pickups. Thank you!
