 Some are going to be better than others. Obviously the one that's tracking at 120 is not going to be good as the one that's tracking at 40 hours. Anyway, so that is the basic overview of the Suunto 9. I'm going to start wearing it today, I'm going to wear it for a couple of weeks, and then I'm going to come back and give you my full review

 Okay, so the battery life. So it's going to be seven days if you're using it as a heart rate monitor all day and getting mobile notifications from your phone. Fourteen days if you're using it just as a straight watch, and then there are different modes for the GPS. There's 25, 40, and 120 hours that you can get out of the battery, depending on which mode you're using, and the modes obviously are going to be tracking at different rates

Suunto 9 Baro MultiSport Watch First Impressions

Heart rate wrist sensor needs improvement.

 Suunto keeps things pretty simple with their packaging and I was simply not ready for how attractive and eye catching the actual watch would be when I flipped up the lid. And we'll get back to the actual watch here in a second, but you'll also find a magnetic charging cable that plugs into a USB type A, the heart rate strap that comes in this particular bundle, and then a boatload of paperwork along with a sticker. But don't get too scared, it's just a brief instructions, but they seem to include every single language on this planet. So that's everything in the box, but let's actually go outside and take a closer look at the actual watch

 It's definitely not a small watch by any stretch of the imagination. When I first pulled out of the box, it seemed absolutely gigantic. But if we actually compare this with a Phoenix 5X, it's virtually the exact same size. And I think the reason it appears large is the white color and the silver bezel

 But it does provide two other modes to balance battery life and GPS accuracy, depending on your needs. And along with that insane battery life, it also does come with smart charging reminders, which will definitely help you make sure that you don't run out of battery before you finish your epic event. Anyhow, this was just a first look at the Suunto 9. And this device is definitely going to require a lot of testing, which I'll do over the next three to four weeks

 Now they do offer the Suunto 9 in both black and white, but white does seem like an interesting color option. I'm curious to see how it's going to hold up with three to four weeks of heavy outdoor use. Now the watch itself is really quite nice and you can tell the construction is really solid. And that battery life is also awesome, but that does come at a cost and that's going to be the size and the weight

Suunto 9 Unboxing and First Impressions - INSANE GPS Battery Life!

Forced from an ambit3 due to Suunto not allowing the new app compatibility I am very disappointed with this watch. It isn’t very easy to read the display without pressing a button. The battery life is appalling compared to the ambit3.

 So those two units come with optical heart rate sensor and again, you can add $50 for the heart rate strap bundle. All of this will start shipping here at the end of the month. So June 25th, 26th is the date they're saying right now. They're targeting towards, I think they'll probably hit that or get pretty darn close to it

 And it basically takes these 10 minute roughly intervals to look at your heart rate and kind of track it over time and show your minimum heart rate, including things while sleeping as well as just your day of activities. Now one catch here is that Suunto is still not plotting or recording that data onto their mobile apps or web or anywhere else, you just see it on the device itself, which is definitely a serious downside. The main benefit of doing 24 by 7 heart rate tracking, it's a trend resting heart rate over time. So you can track typically resting heart rate spikes when you get close to being sick or are sick or where you're over fatigued

 That's what I've done. It's just worked a whole hell of a lot better, which is too bad because the new mobile app on the Sport Tracker Suunto app side is actually really pretty. It just doesn't have like the underlying guts to be what's appropriate for this environment or this watch, this watch, any of these watches really. So anyways, just food for thought on that

 So they've added in their latest Valencell optical heart rate sensor, optical heart rate sensor from Valencell, the same optical heart rate sensor that's found on the Suunto 3 Fitness, so kind of the latest gen sensor there. That is now standard on what is effectively the Suunto Spartan Ultra replacement. You'll also notice as well, if you look at the bands, the bands are now removable. So in the past, you could technically remove the band off the Ultra, but it didn't really go down very well

Great watch, Big issue with brightness

 Not sure how accurate the step counting is but I did compare with Fitbit and Garmin and they seem to have about the same step counting issues as the Suunto. I like that it's waterproof, that it tracks my heart rate and basically has every activity mode I can think of to stay on par with all the activities that I do outside. What I would change? I've been wearing and testing this watch for a month now. I've used it on a number of different activities and all around I like it, I don't love it

 I really like that it's waterproof the way it looks. It is big so you're either going for the boss look or it's gonna be too large. I currently have the watch over my long sleeve so it's not tracking my heart rate. That's okay right now

 Hey adventure family! I'm Angie from Get Out There Magazine and today we're on the Humber Trail and I'm gonna check out Suunto's 9 Baro watch. Let's take it for a spin! It's water resistant up to a hundred meters and has 80 activity modes to choose from including stand up paddle boarding which I'm doing right now in Lake Ontario. Right now the watch is tracking my route, my speed, distance and my heart rate. The GPS has been tracking me which is nice, not needed in this winter hike but very valuable on other hikes throughout the year for sure

 I have the Garmin 6x. I sort of like it, but its complicated compared to my Samsung Watch.

For the price, only OK.

 For the price point, I decided to return it instead of waffling on whether or not I wanted to keep it.  I am going to list some pros and cons  Pros: -Bright, clean, and clear display -Plenty of activity options and variations of intensities for activities that you can choose. -Amazing Battery Life  Cons: -On the higher end for any base model - Clunky and sluggish interface -Uncomfortable and bulky if you have smaller wrists ( I am 5'8 and about 155 pounds) - pedometer, calorie tracker, and altimeter are wildly inaccurate. I was in Michigan and my Altimeter was reading 1500 which was about 600 feet off
