 Just so I could see how well they would do in each environment. In one of the configurations I used them as my main speakers and my advice is if you're going to do this make sure to have a good subwoofer to pair them with. Because even though they are great performers they lack that low end kick of speakers with larger drivers. But that said I don't think these speakers would be the best choice for your front stage unless you're severely constricted on space

 You can have them mounted up front over your left and right speakers, in the rears over your surrounds or you can side mount them on the side walls. Now up front I had the speakers mounted over my left and right towers and in the rear I had them side mounted over the main listening position. In both instances they were down firing.  There are much better alternatives like the regular SVS Primes where I see these speakers actually being used for the front stages for people who actually can't have floor standing speakers so they have to have their speakers mounted on the walls. And these speakers since they aim downwards are a great choice. For Dolby Atmos though these have been stellar. If I did not have in-ceiling speakers these would definitely be a contender

SVS Prime Elevation Speaker Review [4K HDR]

Funny enough, my most expensive speakers, the SVS Prime towers at $1200 for the pair now, I think sound the worst by a long mile. The ear piercing treble from that aluminum dome tweeter is one of the worst things I’ve read ever heard, lol. More money definitely doesn’t always mean more better.

I’ve always wondered this - when upgrading all your gear e.g. cartridge, amps , tubes etc. when did you notice that the difference was extremely little - second to none? When did you start noticing little to no difference upgrading your setup?

I love the speakers! But I am missing a vital piece of the puzzle! The packaging did not come with one of the mounting screws! I plan on contacting svs if amazon cannot send me one! Bummer!

 So what is missing or what is it that these SVS prime elevation speakers add? I think in the design aspect of these prime elevations, if you are using them in the downward firing position, the tweeter is actually at the bottom. Which I don't know what their thinking was for this, but I feel like it's better that way because we're getting all those higher frequencies closer to our ears as opposed to kind of blowing over our heads and I know the Klipsch, you know, module is the tweeter is at the top. So that could definitely be why I'm getting more clarity out of all these sounds and height effects. So what's my take on these SVS prime elevation speakers? Now, as I stated before, I was recommending them long before I bought them and guess what, they do get the Technodad seal of approval as I probably will be keeping these

I am just starting to get into higher end audio and trying to figure out a pair of bookshelf speakers to get that I'll be happy with for 5+ years. 

Right now, I am only going for a 2.1 system so that I can get high quality speakers and add surround sound later. 

I will be listening to more music than movies. I like a very wide range of music and I do like to slam the bass sometimes. 

I live in a small 1BR apartment with high ceilings. 

So far, I have only decided on a subwoofer and maybe an amp. 

Sub:  SVS SB 1000 Pro --- I know the ported will slam harder, but it is also larger, costs more, and I value the accuracy of bass in my music. I also can't go too crazy in an apartment.

I just want great speakers that play music loudly and aren't too sharp, have plenty of detail in the highs, and will accurately reproduce chaotic, fast, bass-heavy music. 

My current speaker set-up is 10 year old logitech PC speakers, so I don't have much to compare to. However, I have nice headphones (Senn HD 650 on a Schitt Jotenheim amp/dac).

Tell me what to buy! I am sick of researching.

Looking for bookshelf speakers and my head is spinning with all the options.

Listening to empire brass with svs prime elevation about 4 feet apart, as computer speakers, situated about 2 feet away from me. They are driven by an onkyo amplifier, and coupled with an L12 rythmik subwoofer, makes for a cozy sound field. The onkyo is fed an optical signal converted from USB using a Reiyin USB-to-TOSLINK converter, connected to my laptop. I can hear the cymbals clearly, and well as the distinct instruments of the empire brass

 These aren't meant to sit flush against the flat surface like some other elevation or at most enabled speakers out there. So the fact that you don't have to spend extra money on a mounting system is a huge plus. Placement Options When thinking of Dolby Atmos for example, the first placement you might think of is right on the ceiling. Which you can do of course

 Four on the walls, front and back. Four on the walls, to the sides. One thing to consider with four elevation speakers though, is versatility among surround sound formats. You may have seen my video about an RO3D upmixing and how it can sometimes differ from a native Atmos mix

 Placement Options When thinking of Dolby Atmos for example, the first placement you might think of is right on the ceiling. Which you can do of course. These can definitely be mounted right above you, whether you have two, four, or even six height channels. But say you have only two elevation speakers, you can mount them on the ceiling in front of you, on the ceiling to the sides, on the wall above the TV, or even on the wall to the sides

 To achieve a bipole speaker, take the positive terminal of one and a negative terminal of the other and run those to the corresponding channel on the AV receiver. Then join the unused speaker terminals with a jumper cable. Now, obviously this jumper needs to be longer, but this is just for demonstration. Now to achieve a dipole speaker, go from both positive terminals on each speaker to the positive and negative terminals on the AV receiver

I highly recommend mounting SVS’s Prime Elevation directly overhead for your heights speakers. The 20deg face angle is perfect for vaulted ceilings. SVS will even send you ceiling mounts for free if you email them!

A view month ago a got my first home theater. I really happy with it. I want to add two upgrade to a 5.1.2. Where should I put my atmos speakers?

 Had them for over a month now and really like them and what they have added to my home theater setup.

 Added high fronts and high sides for the Atmos portion of the 11.2 output . Immediately widened and heightened the sound stage dramatically. Now there is this very nice across the wall and to the side and behind me sound stage

 They look as well made as my old B&W surrounds, rear and center speakers and those have been around for well over 20 years. BTW, these match those speaker cabinets almost exactly. I like the smaller size of these while still putting out nice sound volume. Based on my Marantz AV7703 setup, they are pretty efficient speakers compared to my other speakers because at the end of the setup, the SVS speakers had to have the volume relatively reduced compared to my other speakers

 But before we do that, let's see what you get in the box. Taking a closer look at the Prime Elevations themselves, you can see they're very similar to the Prime Satellites. And as far as I can tell, they use the same 1-inch aluminum dome tweeter with this metal diffuser, and the 4.5-inch polypropylene mid-range also appears to be the same

 This is probably due to the slanted front baffle angling up toward the listening position. Another great way to use these as LCR speakers is high up on the wall. Maybe above your projector screen, shooting down towards the listening position. Next we tested these as rear surrounds in a side firing configuration

 But they're so close in sound to the Prime Satellites that it shouldn't make much of a difference. And here the Prime Elevation did a great job delivering clear, precise dialogue that actually sounded like it projected into the room a little better than the Prime Satellites speaker. This is probably due to the slanted front baffle angling up toward the listening position. Another great way to use these as LCR speakers is high up on the wall
