The forecast for this week is highs in the fifties, overnight lows above 30. I have a Copper Spur UL HV2 (44 oz), but I'd rather bring my Tarptent Notch Li (19 oz). Especially in possibly rainy conditions, I love how the Notch goes up all at once, rain fly and body together, keeping the interior dry. Me: Female, experienced.

I had a Tarptent Notch. I loved it, great headroom, light, easy to pitch. Used it on numerous trips.

Most honest reviews of the Tarptent Notch Li said that it was quite large in its bag. They were not wrong. Between the four carbon fiber mini-poles, the dcf bathtub, the solid inner and the dcf outer, there is just a lot of material to roll up and stuff in its dcf bag like the gigantic burrito it is.

They are expensive, but they are lighter, stronger, and more waterproof than the tents you have there. The notch Li is about 21oz (packed weight) and the stratospire li is 30oz (2person). Both are modular, and have a bathtub floor that would do a lot better in a real downpour. As for freestanding vs non-freestanding tents.

It was so much better with condensation compared to nearly the same conditions as before, I guess because of the double wall design. I had wanted to buy a Zpacks Duplex (single-wall) and was pretty set on it, but I since I am moving back to the British Columbia and will most likely be backpacking in super wet conditions again into the fall, I am now considering either a Tarptent Stratospire Li or Notch Li (double wall). I am a 5’6” female so I am not too concerned about the size of the Notch. Anyone have any experiences with these in the PNW?

I've got a Tarptent notch li that I mostly like, though I find it a bit fiddly to pitch at times and was hoping to get something that'd at least have an option of being (mostly) freestanding. I like everything I see about the new Tarptent double rainbow DW. But I've been wondering how it'd do with higher winds. We'd be backpacking in the sierras.

I recently found out about the Tarptent Notch Li off a old thread, and started looking into it more. It seemed like the perfect tent. Fairly light, high quality, simple, and fast to set up.

I planning on doing the CDT NOBO in 2022, and I'm currently using the TarpTent Notch Li. While I like the Notch, I really want to get something with extra space since I'm gonna be living in a shelter for six months. My first pick for an upgrade is the Duplex, but the only drawback is fitting in it well as I'm 6'2".

But you seem to have a 2-person tent already, but did not mention the kind of 2-person tent you have. Also you did not state that on your "a week in the Pacific NW this fall" if you even had any condensation problems with the Notch Li. FWIW, I wipe away any condensation in my Duplex before I sit up in the mornings and accidentally touch the inner tent wall.
