Hi guys,

Looking to spend around $400-500 (I actually live in the UK if that's important, but converted to dollars as most of you are probably more familiar with that) on my first headphone setup that would be used in my office, but I could be pushed up if it's really worth it. I've heard lots of good things about the hd 6xx and saw someone pair it with the Jotunheim. Also heard good things about the ifi zen dac paired with something like the hd 650's. Very new to this hobby and wondered what everyone's opinions on those setups or maybe a better one would be? I mostly listen to Hip-Hop music but also enjoy slower, melody based piano based music too, as well as Pop, R&amp;B and Indie. (weird variety, I know) I'm also looking for something that would be upgradable in the future.

New here and looking to get into the hobby with my first setup

 Disappointed that using it with my phone didn't work, but it's now the permanent laptop DAC., and probably can't be beat for price to performance ratio. For this use, it's a bargain.

 DAC improved the sound from laptop and eliminated the hiss from laptop's on board sound card. Plug and play with laptop (make sure to plug in 3.5 cable to get it working). Mostly use it with BLONs (earphones) and they sound a bit more crisp and bit more revealing paired with the DAC than on their own

I always use my Iem's with my phone using DAC/Amp combos like Tempotec sonata HD pro/ Hiby FC3. I prefer a more accurate representation or recreation of sounds or shall I say neutral; I love bass but I don't prefer it to be the main focus of the headphone. I would the headphone to have a good soundstage and good imaging. My preferred choice of genres is quite diverse

The sound coming from these is amazing, it amps up everything to a next level of quality. However, users beware that there is no mic support (I didn't knew about it, and had to return it because of it). The product is great nonetheless, it is simply more targeted to a more specific audience.

It is Great!

 I'm not a true audiophile but this sounds a lot better than Bluetooth and just as good as, if not better than, the built in DACs on my Galaxy S9, HTC 10, or HTC one M8, which were all had great audio as selling points. It feels solid, the USB cable snaps securely into the DAC and into the device's USB C port, so you don't have to worry about the cable coming out. The volume buttons adjust the volume a little fast for my liking, so you have to do very short presses to do small adjustments, but the volume steps are very fine allowing you to tweak the volume to right where you want it.  Inclusion of the USB A adapter we a great touch, definitely comes in handy for my laptop that only has 1 USB C port, usually taken up by the display port cable

Budget is under OR around $200.

I'll be using it plugged into my gaming laptop (Dell G5) and my iPad Pro 4th gen. I'll be using it at home.

I feel like i prefer accurate acoustic timbre.

I usually listen to pop, edms, phish and sometimes new age, piano, etc.

I'm a noob. I've used Sennheiser Momentum TrueWireless 2, Momentum 3, Bose QC35 and that's about it.

I was brought my attention to earstudio's HUD100 mk2 and ES100 mk2. How do you guys feel about these options? Is it a bad purchase if i get one of them?

Most of the recommendations I got such as Schiit, fiio are not readily available or marked up very high where i live -- south korea. That's why i'm looking into earstudio's models. apparently they are a korean company.

  Recently tried these with the Hifiman Sundara. When used with low impedance, low sensitivity headphones, be sure to connect a cable adapter first so that the Sonata HD Pro's impedance auto sensing doesn't think it's an easy to drive headphone and use low gain. I used this one: https://.amazon

 It sounds every bit as good as my $250 JDS Labs Atom/ Topping D50S desktop stack with my Sennheiser HD58X and HD660S and my Focal Elear.
