 so if it's not ripped off, its you know rips off light material. but you guys can see this is a full sized poncho again. I'm about five foot six and it goes about down to my ankles, so probably for somebody you know, a little more average height it'll be just below your knees, but that should still be plenty and you can see it's large. lots of space in the back, so you'll definitely be able to fit this over the top of your pack

 You can see this is a big tree. let's get around over here. just look at this guy's The root system on this submission just tore completely out of the ground. I'm about five foot six inches to give you a point of reference

 It's just a nice clean look and you can tell by the level of detail and in the design features and how everything is laid out that this was designed by people who actually get out and go hiking. People who actually use this gear. and that's the kind of stuff that really becomes evident once you actually use the pack. Sometimes it kind of looks cool at first, you know, and you get out there and you realize like, why is this laid out this way or you know I Wish there was a pocket here, but if anything, my experience has been the exact opposite with this pack

Teton Sports Mountain Adventurer 4000 Review

 Imaging trying to climb up a muddy mountain trail in a poncho that can't even close during a storm! It really doesn't work...at all

 My disappointment is compounded in that I feel I was upsold something that really doesn't perform significantly better than the Fox. I don't know if I got a Lemon (I do hope so) and again I have been impressed with the Teton customer response, but it was through an email exchange with them directly that convinced me to upgrade, and I hope it is clear I feel I was, if not cheated, at least misguided that this would be worth upgrading to.  Stick to the Osprey's and Gregory's, folks, if you need to go up. If not, I would still highly recommend the Fox for a casual user

 I contacted Teton and asked if there might be a defection on my bag that the straps pretty much collapsed around that weight, and was told (again, prompt reply, great customer service) that the Fox is the lower end bag and not really designed for such a load. They sent me a new lid (not much better) but suggested if I was carrying a lot of weight I need to upgrade to the Grand 5500. The reviews were impressive and I thought there would be a lot of additional capacity. It was an expensive mistake

 Even with nothing in the lid pockets, it will slide forward and leave the main bag cavity exposed. Yes, there is the interior closure, but it eventually gets filled with water in the heavy rain - The flimsy plastic insert that is supposed to give some structure and help the shape of the bag closest to your back (see picture) has sharp corners that eventually tore through my bag and are now exposed. It has also lost its structure and just kind of wobbles around back there. Useless

Don't Bother. Either spend more, or less, but don't spend on this one.

 So has a divider in the sleeping bag compartment. It has a divider. if you wanted to keep the sleeping bag compartment separate from the main compartment that it's you know, a zipper. You know, just like most internal frame packs that has the zipper ones, I've seen ones that have velcro

 Kind of wish it was like the butterfly type pockets where they could expand out if you were to stuff gear in it. Um, pretty solid zipper. Yeah, just kind of wish it was a little bit bigger. but the more pockets the better

The key features that I was looking in: a pack that I can attach as much care as possible. Um, and yeah, let's keep going. I've got a pocket right here on the side of the pack. not a very deep pocket

Since others have complained about the same issues affecting them, I decided it wasn't worth asking Teton to replace the bag, and I just returned it. It seems from other reviews that many people are very happy with this bag, so the issues I had are not experienced by everybody. But it seems a significant number of people have had issues with the shoulder strap pocket and chest strap

Great Concept for a Pack with Some Flaws

Introduction to the Mountain Adventurer 4000 Backpack

  Upon receiving this backpack, the first thing I checked was that particular zipper. With nothing inside the pack, I struggled to open the sleeping bag compartment and was never able to close it properly. The teeth of the zipper were splitting open on both ends by the zip stops, and in the middle due to misaligned teeth or the zipper itself is defective. A replacement was ordered

 We shall see if the next one has this problem. I have little hope, as it seems Teton Sports have not listened to their customers regarding this zipper issue. It’s clearly not adequate.  Update: 1 Star changed to 3 for now

As mentioned in several other reviews, the sleeping bag compartment zipper is in fact pretty awful. Definitely not robust enough for such an important zipper and it is extremely finicky, not that I had much time to test it out..

First Impression: Zipper Problem

 I've already done one of those. This is gonna be going over what I did to test it and the results that I found about this particular bag. Now one of the major issues that I have with any backpack any hiking pack is the compression straps and right here on the back, you can see hopefully this section right here where the load lifters connect into the the seam right here. That's always been a problem for me with hiking packs, so that's what I spent most of my time testing and I found that with other Teton packs and I'm gonna be brutally honest I do own the Scout 3400 which is a lower end model and I did have some issues where I did have to reattach the strapping because it came loose from the stitching this particular bag I did not have any issues with as far as that goes, everything held together just fine and I didn't have any tearing or loosening of the seams and I think the reason for that? let me see if I can show it to you here

So we'll get to that here in just a second. So I basically spent the last year and a half or so testing this backpack the best I can and basically strength testing and durability testing and making sure that it actually functions the way it's supposed to function. So essentially, we're going to go ahead

 Now one of the major issues that I have with any backpack any hiking pack is the compression straps and right here on the back, you can see hopefully this section right here where the load lifters connect into the the seam right here. As a result, I found absolutely no issues with the seams or the strapping coming undone from this bag and I did do some pretty major testing on it I basically filled it up and cinched down the compression straps to the point where the seams were pulling and I just left it there for a couple of days, came back to check and see what happened and as soon as I'd release the tension, everything went back to normal

✔️ 1 Year Update - Teton Sports Mountain Adventurer 4000

 Didn't like reverse adjustment for shoulders (you have to pull up instead of down like nearly every pack ever made). 1 waistbelt pocket tiny and useless. Waistbelt not for slim people, I have 32 waist and had this tightened all the way. The fit seemed kind of off, I wish they would come in a couple different sizes instead of a one-size-fits-all system (Osprey gets this)

 It's review time now that I got the 360 in. Let's take a look at this pack. So here you have it. This is the Teton Sports Mountain Adventurer 4000 Backpack

 You have these buckles right here so you can open this thing up if you need to. slight. Han Next con: This zippered area here for the sleeping bag is difficult to open. It's difficult to close in the future

 Right here, you have two straps with buckles so you can attach a piece of kit on top of this backpack here. Maybe a sleeping pad, Maybe a blankets, maybe some rope. Whatever you want to, the lid is attached thanks to these buckles right here. The lid is elevated, so if you need to raise this up you can

 Very comfortable. You know its padded, its raised, you have the recesses for evaporation of your sweat and so on. Very comfortable. I've carried up to roughly 42 pounds in this pack

 Han Next con: This zippered area here for the sleeping bag is difficult to open. It's difficult to close in the future. I'd like to see this being revamped a little bit. The sewing here needs to be further away from the zipper so that you can have easier access of going back and forth with it

Inexpensive and Functional - Teton Sports Mountain Adventurer 4000 Backpack - Review

 But I do believe this bag is worth buying if your looking for a bigger pack to hold a good load I've used it and used it havnt had a single problem. Durable and dependable the material is a little thin for the price point but that's fine no biggy. I will say the hip belts, chest clip and the shoulder straps are fantastic I love the set it and the movement you have with having the pack on. Also one last thing
