 I've done a pitch tent The Healy burg and March 3 GT which is I would recommend the best ten on the market But this isn't a tent to our put your head down at At the moment No pegs down at the moment and it's holding up pretty pretty easy Is waterproof somewhat But if it's gonna be a big storm, I wouldn't recommend it feels already been Stitching seals are already being What I guess Silicone from the factory not like backpack where you have to do it yourself Double stitching Very very strong tent Very strong tent Pockets Hide your stuff Little hook up here to hang your lights or anything that you need to hang up. You put a string from there. It's there So you can then close or vice versa. Anyway, you've got four points or six points actually two entrances

 So you've got a lot of air coming through. I'll leave that open. You can also fly net up there for ventilations And you also can open it up To have it fully open but mosquitoes is a bit of a pain Now you get your little window here as you can see And this is obviously go out as well two entrances from each side This will have enough room to put the boots and everything you actually sit out there and cook And the snow, can't wait to do that again. The velcro locks into there on each side

Great tent but...

 You know it is at the end of the day a two person tent so carrying between two people no problem at all. My pack weight coming up here tonight is 13kg which is I find that fairly heavy. I would be at 80kg myself and I'm reasonably fit and healthy but I do find that once it gets to that 13, probably about 13 and a half actually it is getting a bit heavy but here where I'm camped on Luke's Mountain is only 300m so it's not the end of the world in respect of the distance that I'm walking up. So I'll take the heavier tent to just really enjoy its features you know when I'm here

 But they now use a combination fly sheet and that's silicon on the outside and PU on the inside and I am not convinced that this is a step forward. Also the way that the tent is made if you look at these seams here the fabric kind of runs along and it's tucked up into that on both sides and I just feel that that particular design is incredibly strong. The new ones, the design, all of the seams are actually like this one where the fabric just kind of like is a bit of an overlap and I'm just not convinced I mean that's not a high stress point in the tent. I'm not convinced that the new way of doing it is better than the old

 When I pan out the wind, catching it has created a calm place in the wind and then frozen away from the wind.

 Everything looks very good so far. And here's the obligatory warning label. Okay, we've got everything cinched down a little bit. And of course it's not perfect, but it never is on the first attempt to set one up

 I also used the #seatosummit poncho as an extra layer, folding the sleeping pad.  The first night I got literally frozen, due I did everything that I wasn’t supossed to do. Closed tent ventilation, pad into the sleeping bag and only one layer of clothes, was a very bad idea. The second night I slept really comfy

 For $11 more, the Trango 2 is over 3 ounces lighter, slightly more durable (the fly is 70D with 2000mm PU compared to The North Face’s 40D with 1500mm), and significantly more spacious (40 square feet vs. the Mountain’s 32.3). You do get a 3-inch-taller peak height with the TNF, and a footprint is included with purchase (the Trango’s footprint will cost you $80 extra)

 The fly also has 17 Velcro attachments on the underside that connect to the poles of the tent, which stop the fly from flapping during high winds or from settling onto the tent body when weighted down with snow. It also retains the separation between the canopy of the tent and the fly to help keep precipitation from seeping in. This tent is designed to withstand high winds and heavy pelting snow, and that it does. Four DAC Featherlite NSL poles slip into the sleeves in the tent, and cross over in multiple places forming seven “X”s, including one on the roof

 We recently spent a restless winter night in the mountains during which we each had a few anxious moments of reminding ourselves that the tent was designed to withstand gale force winds, all the while mentally circulating through our options if our shelter were to be ripped apart. Worst-case scenarios quickly can become reality when the temperature is well below freezing. But despite the howling winds and heavy precipitation, the tent felt sturdy and aerodynamic. When the calmness in the morning allowed for a perimeter check, the tent and our gear inside looked as fresh as it had at setup

 You do sacrifice quite a bit in terms of space, vestibules, breathability, and price, and keep in mind that the Eldorado really has solo alpinists in mind (or two small people at the most who don’t mind sleeping with their gear). But for those who value weight over all else, a feathery 4-season tent like the Eldorado (or even the Jannu above) is ideal for heading high into the alpine. We, however, put a higher value on the convenience and better all-around abilities of the Mountain 25, which stands out as a solid value for an expedition-worthy design.
