 Battery life on the TomTom Bandit is around about three hours, I think that it feels like it lasted even longer. Yeah, I think it was more, yeah. I don't know, we might be wrong, but you certainly have plenty of time to capture whatever you're doing, you know, a three hour surf session is a pretty good effort. Yeah, it's enough

 This connects to the camera so you can carry it around and press record and stop. You've got your two buttons, so it's a nice and consistent approach to the functionality of the camera. If you wanted to mount the TomTom onto the front of your surfboard, then all you do is just put this carefully on your finger or somewhere safer. So I suppose compared to some of the newer GoPros and other action cameras that have an LCD preview panel on the back so you can actually see what you've been shooting, this one doesn't

 If you want slow motion, it captures that in 1080p, so that's double speed, so that's 60 frames per second and the quality is just exceptional. Everything from raindrops falling in slow motion to a time lapse of sunset to fish swimming around under the water, we hardly even messed around with the different shooting modes and there are four different scene modes. One is automatic, which we use most of the time, then there's underwater, there's night and bright. For those people who are going to want to not use a full edit suite like we do, for us we're actually using this as a professional piece of kit and it can be, the quality is good enough

 When I go to put it back the next day it is charged up and ready to go. I have yet to run out of battery out on the trails. Video editing is a breeze when you're on the go. There is definitely room for improvement in terms of size and weight, however the bullet design and longer battery life make up for it in most cases

 I picked them out, wiped the dirt off, and mounted put the TomTom on my handlebar mount for the rest of the ride. Later that day I went and purchased a new helmet with less venting so I could use the 3M 360 pitch mount on it. I won't be using the GoPro headstrap anymore, that's for sure.

  Battery = 10: Battery life on this is amazing compared GoPro. Record three times as long without stopping to charge. Imagine missing a great shot because your GoPro died after a little over an hour of use. An hour flies by sometimes

It works on Android and Apple iPhones and what that actually enables you to do is it becomes a sort of proper viewfinder for the camera. It's not too heavy, although with it mounted to the helmet you can kind of feel it sort of pulling your head around a little bit, but it's very wearable

 Right, to get the wifi working and your smartphone all happy with it, just cycle up and the bandit will give you a passcode and a wifi ID, and then it's just a matter of finding the wifi ID on your phone and then putting in the passcode. At which point your phone connects, just go to the app. You get all sorts of bits of course, you have to have bits. Tap to connect, and you're paired, and that's it

 It's these sort of things that make the difference between a product which has been thought about and designed with user value in mind as opposed to something that's just been banged together, and TomTom have really done a good job on this I think. Here's a last little interface here is just for an interface for if you're slotting it into an accessory.  This is USB 3.0 and the battery is also housed inside of this stick. It's just called the bat stick. There's also a micro SD card here on the side and you can put up to basically any size micro SD card you need to record the video that you want

 You'll see that it's got a unique barrel design that's quite different from most other GoPro competitors. The internal barrel is completely removable and is actually where you're going to find the USB connectivity. This is USB 3.0 and the battery is also housed inside of this stick

 We tested this quite a bit and it works completely flawlessly in the testing. You'll find buttons on top and the back. On the bottom you're going to find an accessory mount that attaches to either a number of official tom tom accessories or you can use the packed in GoPro adapter to fit on popular GoPro accessories as well. This opens up the market for a wide variety of accessories that you might not otherwise get if this were just a proprietary connector

But very useful and you can imagine if it can withstand a metre underwater without this then a heavy shower, torrential rain whilst you're riding your bike, absolutely no problem for this camera. This is where it gets really clever because normally you need cables or you need to take a card out to download the footage onto a computer
