Topping E30 DAC

Much to my surprise the Topping E30 Dac really enriched my experience with the dt770s by really filling out those mids just a bit more. Never thought the DAC would have such an effect on the tonality.

It's great starter gear. Their other stuff is good too. I had a Topping dac w/Schiit amp. It worked fine.

I have the Atom amp and I used it with the Topping D30 dac for like a year with my Sundaras. It’s dry and analytical with no soundstage that gave my very little joy. Now I use my Sundara with a ~25$ usb dongle (Meizu hifi audio) and it’s warm and smooth and has a real space in the soundstage.

They are quite intimate sounding. That's not necessarily a bad thing but if you're listening to songs with instruments mixed to the extreme edges of the stereo field (Kind of blue by Miles Davis is an extreme example) then it can get a little bit claustrophobic without some sort of digital crossfeed solution. The Topping dac/amp suggested here is by all accounts a good unit that is powerful enough for pretty much any headphones you may want to try down the road.
