 A single screen displayed when the App is first launched pointing out the need to make the decision about the Operating Mode and the need to add the range extenders as a separate, manual, operation would be very helpful.  My concerns about the setup aside, the system delivers good performance (45 Mbps) to a bedroom about 30 feet from the router and acceptable performance (30 Mbps) to another bedroom nearly 100 feet distant from the router. So long as the system does not succumb to the reliability problems reported by at least one other reviewer, I think I will be happy with this system.

Decent Performance, Abysmal App

This system was bought in conjunction with a TP-Link Deco X20 system. Below is the review I wrote of the X20 system which applies to this system as well. Due to the construction of my home, a mesh wifi system is necessary. I've been using a Google wifi system for a nearly a year now, but my wife has been constantly having issues with her phone losing connection and since we're working from home we can't afford to have that happen

 I'd previously used TP-Link products with great results so I was excited to give this system a try. The Deco app makes setup a breeze. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. After initial setup, everything seemed great until I woke up the next morning to no internet

 Another hard reset and I was back up and running. Later that day I get a notification from the Deco app that my internet connection had dropped. Again, I checked the modem and things looked great. I tried accessing the internet on multiple devices and everything seemed fine, but I kept getting the notifications from the app and I noticed that the IP addresses of the access points had again changed on their own

 That was the straw that broke the camel's back. I did some digging and this doesn't seem to be an isolated incident. I've gone back to my previous system for now and will be looking for another solution.

Easy setup, but nothing but headaches.

 You also can't really tell what is connected to each AP so that makes it difficult to see if you are overloading one as well. Compared to Ethernet over Powerline device which is what I had with my old Centurylink DSL connection I can't see that this is any faster or better. I am changing soon to CSPIRE Fiber at 1000mbps and will install new Router and plan to go back to a Ethernet over Powerline extender with Wifi for total home coverage.

 We have approximately 25 Wifi devices connected including phones, Echos dots, Blink Cameras, Thermostat, Lights and TV's. all tied back to 100mbps Cable Ethernet. Works but would not recommend

Not everything will connect especially when network has more than 10 devices

 I'm sure this system is capable of greater than 100megabit speeds but my internet connection is simply not fast enough to test that aspect. The TP-Link kit gives decent speed everywhere in my house and even my large backyard, and my driveway. The box says this kit is good for 4,500 sqft although I'm not so sure about that. I'd estimate that It's probably good for 2500sqft in new construction or 2000sqft in older homes (with thick walls)

I installed this kit to replace a (premium at the time) linksys AC3200 tri-band router. although this mesh kit uses the technically a slower AC1200 standard, It has proven itself much more reliable and faster overall in my 1200sqft 1940s house with a weird floorplan and thick plaster walls. it's not perfect and I sometimes get a second of buffering every day or two with my otherwise-fast cable modem, but it's still a huge improvement.  one thing that I didn't like about this TP link router-- It uses a weird nonstandard DHCP range: 192

it's not amazingly fast WiFi, but it's STRONG reliable WiFi ; it's as good as most people will need.

  Still, for what it is worth, there are not a lot of cheap options you can get for better Wi-Fi, but the Deco M3 Wi-Fi system from TP-Link is one that can handle well. While many people would rather spend more for the money, with so many people struggling in their lives from the pandemic, this would be one of the few options I would suggest you go to, but hopefully it can be a lesson for TP-Link to help provide better options for speed and reliability.  Price: B-  Convenience & Setup: B-  Speed & Reliability: C+  Overall: B-

 For one, you cannot control the wireless channels the mesh Wi-Fi can be on, unlike prior routers. That in itself is a problem, especially if you want to remove pings from your connection for a faster speed. I had talked to Tp-Link itself, and they tech support was lousy in regards to helping me setup a faster connection. If TP-Link did manage to put that in the software, it would've made excellent customer service

Mobile Wi-Fi At Home

 Because of this setup we needed to manually switch between access points for best signal as we moved throughout our home, which became frustrating and confusing (especially for visitors).  With our previous setup we were achieving an average download speed of anywhere from 1-15mbps and dropped signals ALL THE TIME. There were even dead spots - specifically in areas furthest from the router/access point. Now with the DECO we are consistently achieving average download speeds of 50-100mbps, even in the farthest reaches of the house!  The DECO not only improved our coverage and WiFi stability, but it also looks good too! The included access points easily plug into a standard wall plug and are relatively discreet, with no blocky antennas sticking out that require adjusting

 To get around this - we forced each iOS device to "forget network" and then re-added it. In addition, the access points will show up in your network scan as individual devices which appear to be not-secured.  Overall - so far so good, with a little hiccup during our setup - overall speed has been vastly increased and we love the seamless switching between rooms and floors.

 One of the problems we ran into was that we named the new wireless network with the exact same name as our previous network. This proved confusing to our iOS devices when we tried to connect to the new network (which again, had the same name as the old network - we should have just used a new network name). To get around this - we forced each iOS device to "forget network" and then re-added it. In addition, the access points will show up in your network scan as individual devices which appear to be not-secured

Seamlessly extends wifi signal in 2500 sq foot home, app needs work

 We clicked our connection from the list and it goes to the next screen, which wanted the life story of our devices ( see my pic). We didn’t even know what we were supposed to type or where to find the info. Then also, when the WiFi came on ( on iPad) in The settings, a note said “ unsecured network” and something about not trusting unsecured networks. What did THAT mean? We didn’t like hearing that

 So I go back and read them and sounded like more tech savvy people than us wrote that there’s a 3rd party cloud that you have to give all your security info to or you can’t start this system, and that if they ever have a security breach, you’re screwed cause you gave up all that security info. Several people wrote this and makes sense. So…the setup was NOT easy as box said and the ap did NOT do all the work after you sign in, that’s a lie. This vs a Eero system we used to have…you set it up, make a password, it finds your system without asking you for your life history and all your security and a few minutes you’re online

DO NOT BUY

 Before doing this, a work-around occurred to me. I turned off the older WiFi radio and simply rename the new Deco network with the exact same name and give it the exact same password as the old one. This resulted in the smart home devices not knowing the difference and subsequently joining the “new” network with the “old-new” credentials. It would be really nice if the access point mode ACTUALLY DID what it says and expanded the existing network without forcing to make a new name and new password or be forced to use a work-around like this

 I have 38 smart home devices in my person IOT array, and most of them have applications that will not allow a blanket reassignment of networking credentials. I was unaware of the fact that the Deco would require me to establish an entirely new network name and credentials, thereby disconnecting every device trying to get online with the old credentials. Great coverage. Difficult Setup if you have a lot of smart home devices.

 If you don't either, this will work well for you at a low price (it was on sale with a coupon for $115).

 I decided we needed a mesh system to solve our issues.  I researched a lot of products for mesh systems. You can spend a lot of money on these things and I had no interest in that. After looking through all the reviews on many different systems, I settled on this one since it was really the cheapest thing out there

I've had TP link products for years now - two basic, cheap wireless routers and a wifi extender. They have always done the job well for cheap. Recently, we've been doing some more streaming and I wanted a better connection throughout the house. We pay for 60 mbps internet but really only get it at the router or if it is hardwired because the router is downstairs in a corner of the house
