TP-Link Deco M5

M5 Deco is 802.11ac wifi. There is no way you're going to get gig wifi speeds over it. The marketing claims on the side of a wifi product box are total bullshit anyway, often they are totally distorted (adding all all radio throughput for some unachievable, even in a lab number).

They will link to your Wi-Fi without needing a hub, they look classy like normal switches rather than some stupid alien product, they integrate with Google and Alexa, and they seem to just work. Anytime you have a long-term Wi-Fi network problem, if that happens, there's a tiny little reset button on the switch itself to reboot the thing and they just reconnect. Very easy, highly recommend.

Had three adults working from home and two kids in virtual school, usually simultaneously. The Decos were a godsend, replacing an aging single Wi-Fi router set-up, and took everything we could throw at it (on top of constant UHD streaming). Couldn't think of a better way to improve the home networking, they've been performing top notch. I thought I would have to run some Cat6A from room to room and set-up a wired backhaul, but in my situation they've been performing admirably on wireless alone.

For £160 I have had fantastic luck with a set of TP Link Deco M5s. I really didn't expect a whole lot, in fact I ordered from Amazon so I could take them back to the Amazon locker if they didn't work. I have to say I have been very impressed. The roaming between access points is great, they work well through the really thick walls in my house and even cover my admittedly small garden.
