5GbE (and it's essentially required to get much higher bandwidth than the EAP620). The router is the ER605/TL-R605 (same model, it got re-branded). On average TP-Link's products are roughly 2/3 the cost of their Ubiquiti equivalents.

I use Ubiquiti at my house and I love it, but I'm trying to get a family member squared away who has somewhat involved requirements (a house and detached garage outside mesh range) and I don't think Ubiquiti is in their budget.  That said, I'll probably be the one supporting this so having something bulletproof with unified management is important to me.  Are there some cost-effective options out there that support a centralized router/switch/configuration and attaching some wifi extenders/AP's via CAT6 that don't require discrete configuration?

Alternatives to Ubiquiti for all-in-one management?

Pay CLOSE attention to this unit, how it works, and what it does before you buy it!!  1) Omada interface / controller - as normal, great concept but total trash to implement. I de-registered the software, wiped the initial setup and started over rather than trying to mess with it (its only good for multipoint administration from a central location IMHO) - IE: I did the stand alone fallback mode through a web interface and fixed the problem (much simpler setup) 2) NOT a true "wireless mesh" unit. Only some (mostly omada) wireless networks will work with this thing. My "netgear" router and this unit would not work together for a wireless AP setup

BE Warned!  NOT a true wireless Mesh type unit.

4 would have been a little stronger at this distance, let's go back to 5, not bad, the room as I said is about 130 feet, which is about 40 meters, I'll actually be setting this up in a marina, which is going to be all outside, but the marina is in the downtown core, so the marina, try that again, 2.5, sorry, 5 GHz and 2.4, a tad stronger, marina is outside, we are going to be setting this up, but it's in the downtown core, so there's lots of Wi-Fi interference, but what I'll do is I'll do another video on the outdoor test of the TP-Link EAP225 outdoor, thanks and I hope this helps, okay, so to be fair I figured I'd give this TP-Link EAP225 outdoor a proper outdoor test, so I've got it temporarily powered up with no ethernet, but Wi-Fi is functioning, as you can see I'm connected here on the 5, can you see that, on the 5 GHz frequency, full strength obviously because I'm 6 inches away from it, I've got my step counter running on the same screen and we're going to go for a walk through this park and see how far we get, the step counter is a little delayed, it'll catch up, it's counting in meters, we're going to go to the end of the park and see how far we get, the last test was inside, wow, a little delayed reaction there, so 50 meters we're down to half there, let's switch it up to 2.4, 48 meters, I guess it's pretty good if you think about it, 48 meters, well it is what it is, I'm not sure how that relates to anything because I haven't spent a lot of time testing outdoor access points, and also have to keep in mind that I'm using a phone for the testing and the antenna in this phone is much smaller than the antennas you'll find in a laptop, seems to also make a difference based on which way I'm facing, 2

AP Opinions; Meraki GO vs Ubiquiti vs Omada

 The ReoLink cameras support 5G and 2.4G WiFi (not simultaneously), but yet again, the signal continues to disappoint.  This is still a pretty cool product, and it has applications (especially related to affordable outdoor mesh), but it certainly didn't accomplish what I was hoping it would.

Wiring CAT6 to most rooms of my home but would also like good WiFi coverage. It's a small house and would need at most a access point per floor (3) on the same network. I have seen access points like ubiquiti in corporate location but these seem expensive. Could I use some APs with DD-WRT and get similar results?

Great products but the WORST product naming and even worse compatibility info

I just did a tp-link er605 + tl-sg2210MP + eap620hd + eap225 outdoor + eap235-wall + OC200 setup and it was super simple and the performance is great. I have never used ubiquiti but they are more expensive. Make sure the feature set of the equipment meets what you truly need.

I finally got gigabit speeds and think it's time to upgrade the rest of my equipment.

I setup a LAN network using goCoax MoCA 2.5 adapters and am pretty happy with it. I'm now looking to upgrade my router to get the most out of my LAN and provide better wi-fi coverage.

What's the recommended setup for $300 for a fast LAN with wi-fi coverage.

 Cheap enough to just replace a dead unit. As long as TP-Link doesn't break them with a firmware update, I probably won't need to chuck these anytime soon.

 I got them up and running without any trouble (I think they'll be perfectly reasonable for non-network engineers to handle). The mounting brackets are cheap crap. But that's compared to the solid steel stuff that I'm used to, and I think most people will probably just throw these on a shelf or a metal filing cabinet or something (don't do that, by the way) so most probably won't care.  But call me impressed

So far so great!
