Hey everyone, I've been looking for a new bike for a while and I think I settled on a Trek Domane. I test rode a 58cm one which was juuuust a hair big, so I wanted to get a 56cm. I've been going back and forth about getting new vs used for a while, but have been browsing facebook and craigslist randomly.

I am considering purchasing a road bike, as road riding would be 90% of my rides. The Trek Domane SL6 is the bike I am considering as it has tire clearance up to 38c wide.

Currently: 6-4" (76 in), 200lbs (accurate), 35.5" inseam - riding a 2022 61cm Specialized Allez w/26cm stock tires and a 2" stem riser (b/c the bike is slightly small for me it turns out). Looking at a 62cm Trek Domane SL6 - 12months to order \~$4500ish inc taxes (The Crimson red / Black top - best looking paint I've seen) But it has some thick ass 32cm tires that just look like a sunday stroll in the part and it's not visually appealing to me to see that kind of thicc rubber. Also looking at a 62cm Trek Madone SL6 - LBS has one arriving Monday (its the vibrant red which I don't really care for) $5000ish (inc taxes) comes stock with 28cm which look nice - but what in the world is up with the stock AL & Carbon fused wheels. It has disc brakes so why would they even try and combine two different types of materials to save what?

Keep in mind too that the "fit" of a bike frame can vary between vendors and even between models from the same vendor. Just like shoes, in some brands I wear a 10 in others a 9. I am 5'11" \~ 180 cm and got a 56 cm Trek Emonda SL6 that seems to fit me just right, a 58 would be too much of a stretch for me. Another number to look at is the effective top tub length.

I dont think the Domane is sluggish, but i'm a load myself. That being said, i went with a Domane SL6 as i was in search of a comfortable road bike that would carry me on 30+ mile rides with comfort being most important/followed by speed. The down tube storage is what sold me... if you are looking for an Endurance road bike, any of the following are worthy of consideration (including the BMC and Cervelo you mentioned): Specialized Roubaix, Giant Defy, Salsa Warroad and Ribble Endurance.

I usually ride around 100-150km every weekend. Now to the bikes, there aren’t many available with all the supply chain difficulties but I have found the models below. Trek Domane SL6 with Rival Etap in Crimson/Black €4444.
