Nope, if you aren't paying for it. You're the product. Your better off not even using a VPN rather than a free one as you wouldn't have someone monetarily invested in selling your data so hard verses just getting the DMCA notices etc. Look at some cheap options like Private Internet Access, Torguard and if you want to dabble in the ONLY semi free/bare bones trial offering then I would look at Tunnelbear but you're not going to get any amount of bandwidth allowance that would be good for torrenting linux iso file sizes etc.

Tunnelbear and Hideme both offer 2GB/month, so if you combine these 4 together, you can torrent almost 30GB/month. Now I know it's not that insane, but considering you can't afford a paid VPN, I think you won't be looking for torrenting 4K insane resolution movies whatsoever you want to torrent. ProtonVPN free does not offer P2P support. ​.

Basically I just need to use it for work, being able to access some US websites in the UK and vice versa. I was using TunnelBear because their free version allows this, but apparently they're scummy?

nothing has worked. Tunnelbear jsut enters a loop, sending and recieving no data, while eating 100% cpu. And the protonapp gives the message "we could not reach proton servers".

Tunnelbear is a bit newer, has a smaller network. Also if you’re seriously into it, Nord will do you better since it does dedicated IP addresses whereas Tunnelbear only has shared IPs. Ever since I switched I’ve been happy with Nord since Netflix works on it. With Tunnelbear, Netflix was still sometimes blocked.

I'll give my opinion on this based on the two VPNs I've used: TunnelBear and Private Internet Access. Yes... LTT pointed me to them.Reason for TunnelBear: independent audit. They had had an audit that went through their system and, at least how I understood it, confirmed what they had said they were doing.Reason for PIA: they had a history of being questioned by authorities and providing nothing - because they had nothing.The latter is why I continue to trust Apple more than Google, too.

I don't know what all you Tunnelbear users were thinking. Do you believe other commercial VPN services are doing a better job of protecting your privacy? Spoiler: they are not.
