 Why do I say this? Because I don't see the humidity levels drop or spike when I'm not using or using the unit. I have a pretty fast reacting hygrometer which detects the changes in 30 minutes max.  Does it clean air? For sure it does, simply because the water in the tub gets dirty. But how big of a radius does it really affect? I'm not sure, I have no proof either way

So if you're doing the same job as every other guy how is that the advantage for you that you decide to market yourself with?  OK how, compared to other humidifiers I guess? Still, how? It takes same amount of work adding water daily and cleaning if not more. My warm mist humidifier I'd add water daily and clean it once a season to get rid of calcium deposit. Venta takes adding water daily, cleaning every couple of weeks, and at least once a season I disassemble it to clean the fan housing. And the basic cleaning is not that quick either

 You can't get the dirt off. You can either get your toothbrush and dish detergent out every other week and clean the discs (or more precisely the parts you can reach for one hour or you can shell out 13$ for Venta's cleaning agent. Both options are terrible. To Venta's credit I need to emphasize that cleaning is a big problem with every humidifier out there

 Most humidifiers I have seennever get cleaned and they basically are germ distribution devices. At least the Venta you can get clean, either with your elbow grease or by throwing 13$ at the problem every two weeks. Paying 400$ for this humidifier is completely overpriced and even my 300$ black Friday deal seems way over the top for what you get. Last but not least, if you are ready to spend 400$ for this humidifier, spend another 50$ for the trolley

 But there is a big catch with this humidifier (like with any humidifier): cleaning it is a nightmare. Yes you can pop the bottom and top case into the dish washer (rinse cycle only) and it washes off the dust. But the discs is what get super dirty with a yellowish slimy substance. And putting the discs in the dish washer has zero effect

 It is strongly suggested to use Venta water additive regularly, and another product every six months for cleaning=added expense.  I have hard water. After less than two and a half years of continuous use, as recommended, the motor has developed a clicking noise. I called and e-mailed

 I was offered a suggestion to try to clean the gear box--fast running video really not intelligible. In my brochure, it states that the high price includes shipping the unit back to the company for an electrostatic cleaning, at no charge. I called and emailed to ask for the shipping label to be sent to me. Allegedly, phone said they would get back to me in 2 business days

 They never did. They are now totally ignoring my request. I have not heard back either by phone or email. I'm stuck with either trying to buy and install a new gear unit on my own or throwing this $300 machine out and buying another humidifier, at less than a third the price

After a week of use with the door mostly closed, this thing only raised the humidity in my 150 sq ft bedroom from 25% to 34% (measured w/hygrometer near device and right outside my bedroom). I wish I got a larger model. I don't know why they lie about the actual square footage these things can handle—seems to be a deceptive marketing practice plaguing the humidifier space.  Otherwise I like everything about the design, except for the annoying blue LED light, which I put black tape over

 On medium, it's audible over the TV and on high, it's downright distracting. Since it's not ultrasonic, you can't tell if it's working. Humidity in the room went up a little, but not sure if its the humidifier or the change in weather. Should have made a better improvement in humidity if used in a room 1/2 the size of the area it should cover

 Once that was done, I rinsed off the upper housing with warm water and a sponge around the fan opening. That was it, then just let it air dry for a few hours, put water back in it, and the WTA, and was good to go again for another two weeks. So far I have done this process twice, and there was just a little bit of calcium built up in the lower housing, but nothing that wouldn't come off with a little work with the sponge.  Tips: Even though I've only had this unit for about a month now, I can tell you that if you just run it 24/7, it has a less chance of getting gunked up, than if you only turn it on at certain times

  More after we have a chance to use this for a while.  Update 1: In a large, dry room, the measured humidity may increase over several days before it stabilizes. Moisture is still being pumped into the air, but it can take a while before the effect is apparent.

 A thin strip of dark duck tape dims them down to something reasonable.  -The Airwasher now has only a two year warranty. Reviews that talk about free parts replacement after more than two years are no longer relevant.  -We know we will need to buy proprietary chemicals and there will be cleaning issues

 We will update this review to reflect the experience.  As noted, so far so good on the newest replacement.  More after we have a chance to use this for a while.  Update 1: In a large, dry room, the measured humidity may increase over several days before it stabilizes

This is our third new unit (second replacement) within 10 days. The first had broken internal plastic parts; the second came with fried electronics. We suggest careful inspection of new units  We bought this as a living room replacement for a Vornado "wick" machine that we really liked, but whose motor was failing. Unfortunately, the new Vornado humidifier gets dismal amazon reviews and we know from experience that the wicks have become both thinner and more expensive

A few comments about this Airwasher model that some reviews may overlook:  -Because the moisture comes out of the LONG sides, the unit must be put perpendicular, not parallel to a wall.  -The power cord must be carefully fit into a slot on a short side (facing the outlet) each time the top is removed to add water
