The Vicks cool-mist humidifier, designed for a medium-sized room, excels across the board, garnering an Excellent rating for moisture output for the space, noise levels, and more. Because the tank can’t be filled in a typical bathroom sink, it’s not as convenient as some other models. At 84 inches, the cord is especially long. As for features, there’s automatic shutoff, but that’s it.

 Will probably buy a new machine before kids get their next cold rather than have to empty the base and tank every morning to prevent a mess.

 Store it away for spring/summer when not needed. Take out this winter with first cold/sinus and noticed it was leaking water every morning after it was turned off from a night's use. Thought it was a fluke or operator error but after 4 consecutive mornings of leaky base and a big puddle of water or soaked towels under it realized it wasn't me. Google research reveals that Vicks humidifiers do have a problem with leaky bases

no more hauling a pitcher of water to the humidifier!!; and, it is compact size for your dresser top, etc. (do put a towel underneath to protect your wood furniture from the humidity). Also, remember to turn it off before taking off the tank to fill.

 I think it is a small price to pay to have a machine that does such a GREAT job. I expect to buy one more of these machines to replace a high dollar Venta I have in another room. The Vicks machine doesn't get as dirty and is WAY easier to clean than the Venta. I'll not own any other humidifier now other than Vicks

GREAT Humidifier

I noticed that some of the negative reviews talked about the area surrounding the unit being soaking wet. That has not happened to me and I understand that the problem is generally caused by exceeding the recommended amount of humidity. I have barely seen any condensation on the lip of the tank, itself, because I am at the low end of the humidity recommended. If I were to discover excess moisture, I'd simply turn the unit down so that it doesn't add too much moisture to the air

The bottom line is that for me, this unit is doing exactly what it was advertised to do.

I live in the mid-atlantic and like having a humidifier for those cold dry weeks in winter. This humidifier is very, very very quiet. I've used it only once and it did a great job. Easy to fill and setup
