 The Handle is very comfortable to hold, especially for people with larger hands. But If you have a smaller hand, then this handle might be too big and not comfortable. The Knife balance point is in front of the curved indent. The Recommended griping style is the pinch grip at the curved indent for the optimal balance distribution

Victorinox Fibrox Review - Budget Chef Knife  - 8 inch

After looking around for a week or so, I kept seeing the Fibrox come up as the best value budget knife, and that the Swiss modern was the upgraded version with a better handle. Just so happened to be my birthday this month so asked for this from my Dad. Is asking for kitchen appliances for your birthday one of the first signs of getting old?.

I wanted my first ‘proper’ knife for my birthday and asked for this. Victorinox Swiss Modern. My birthday isn’t until next week but it came today and I couldn’t wait to use it.

 I cringe. Yet it somehow just keeps cutting just fine. I’ve had to sharpen it a few times but it just takes the abuse. I would never trade it for an HRC 60 blade but as a starter knife and for price/performance, this knife gets 10/10

This knife has doubled in price in the past 9 years but it remains a bargain. And while my “go to” knife is a VG-10 Chef’s knife, but my wife still uses this Fibrox Pro from 2012 daily. I hone it and she abuses it. She throws it in the dishwasher

Look before you buy

I've been looking for a nice set of knives for a while now. Saw they're selling these at Costco. Anybody here got them before? Are they worth it?

I'm pleased with the ease of this chief knife's blade cutting and dicing but the handle is all plastic feel, something that gives me the willies . The fit is okay, I've got a medium size woman's hand , seems to me the handle is overly large and i'll bet my sons might like this chef's knife more than myself

All that said, I'd recommend what most folks around here would, Victrinox Fibrox. They don't have a k-tip as far as I know, but at that price point you're not going to get a quality knife with anything other than a simple functional shape that's worth a damn.

Need help finding a knife! Do we know Babish from YouTube? His new cookware looks great and I'm in love with his 'Clef' knife, but it's not available in the UK! Can any of my UK friends recommend anything along these lines? Thank you all so much! Stay safe! x

  It is a stamped blade and more fragile than a quality Japanese or German blade.  But you can afford seven or eight of these knives for the price of one of those.  By far the best chef's knife for the money.

I recently got hired in the kitchen of a fairly expensive restaurant in a hotel and they just informed me I should ideally bring my own knives. I have to move for this job and am looking at buying some knives on amazon as the selection locally is quite small. Can anyone give me any advice on what sorts of knives I may need or good/reasonably priced ones. 

I have a background in baking but have never worked in a kitchen before. They have told me that because of my lack of experience they will try me at different things but likely focusing on breakfast, and then prep for later meals. They said there would be handling of meat and seafood but it wasn't clear if that would be breaking it down, cooking it or both. 

I currently own no knives of my own that I could easily take with me.
