 ViewSonic reached out to me a few months ago and offered to send over two of their new monitors, a 24 inch 1080p TN panel and this beast right here, a 1440p 100Hz ultra-wide. While I wasn't particularly interested in the smaller of the two, a 35 inch curved VA pre-sync enabled monitor will always have significant appeal, both to a reviewer and to a potential consumer, so I agreed to take a look at the XG350R-C under one condition, that I'd be allowed to live with it for a while and fully flesh out the user experience from all angles instead of just trying to push out a review based on first impressions. I always feel that this is especially important with things like keyboards, mice, and monitors. Because the more that you interact with them, the more the little idiosyncrasies will come to the forefront

Why This Is My New Gaming Monitor

 The XG350RC comes up a bit short of the DCI-P3 gamut, thanks to under-saturated red and green primaries, but again, saturation tracking is very linear. While you won't get the extra color afforded by a monitor with a larger gamut, this ViewSonic delivers accurate results with the color it has available. VA screens aren't known for stellar off-axis image quality, but the XG350RC is better than many panels we've tested. Horizontal light falloff is only about 40%, and the color shift is subtle

 There is some oversaturation in the red primary at 60 and 80% points. But the other colors track properly with overall linearity that we rarely see. The XG350RC comes up a bit short of the DCI-P3 gamut, thanks to under-saturated red and green primaries, but again, saturation tracking is very linear.  Response and lag scores are in lockstep with the refresh rates here. The Benken ViewSonic screens both run at 100Hz and are within 2ms of one another in the overall lag test. 144Hz breeds faster response and less lag. But the XG350RC makes the most of its 100Hz with excellent scores

 Welcome back to Hardware Unboxed. Today we're checking out Viewsonic's latest ultrawide monitor. The focus is solely on the gaming market. It's the XG350R-C, a 35-inch 3440 by 1440 MVA display with a maximum refresh rate of 100 Hertz and 1800R curvature and FreeSync

 This is combined with low input lag and very basic support for HDR 10 content. However, when I took this monitor out of the box, I wasn't overly impressed with the design. It's a chunky monitor, not just in terms of the display unit itself, but also when it comes to bezels. A lot of monitors these days are moving to slimmer designs, but it seems Viewsonic kind of hasn't got the message here because it's bigger than even my Acer Predator X34, which was released back in 2015
