 But since I was a little kid, I have appreciated a really good oriental. This is like my fourth or fifth bottle of this, because I just, I loved it so much, and I used to just drown myself in it. And my love for that oriental fragrance blossomed into my love for the most floral explosion of an oriental to have ever been made, that I'm holding right here. Now as for the price of Flower Bomb, it is definitely one of the more expensive perfumes, it's probably one of like the top two or three expensive perfumes that I own

And of course, I love to vlog and take you guys around with me. If you guys found this video, that means you were searching for perfume reviews, and since I do at least one every single month, sometimes more, definitely hit that subscribe button so you don't miss out on any of my videos

 I definitely get some of those white florals mixing in, some of that orchid. But of course, the entire scent is so warm, while still kind of sharp, because of that patchouli and musk base. Those are classic base notes, they just smell so good, and they're in so many perfumes, and that's all that this perfume needs in its base. It takes the two amazing things, and it put them there, and it was like, here you go, this is going to smell so good, I promise

 This bottle kind of mixes girly and edgy at the same time because, you know, it's pink and see-through and like, these pretty like rosy gold colors, but then it's in the shape of a grenade, so it's kind of badass. Inside of this bottle is a floral explosion, hence the name Flower Bomb. So the top notes of Flower Bomb are bergamot, tea, and osmanthus. The middle notes are jasmine, African orange flower, freesia, rose, and orchid

Fragrances you're chasing/waiting to buy

The box in which the perfume is delivered was opened (brutally) and the plastic seal with the V&R logo was broken. Also, the first pump normally doesn't work (you know) but it worked the first time, so someone has used it at least once or twice to spray the perfume. You do not expect to have your stuff "tested" before sent to you.

I got that splash bottle about 2 years ago and still have half left. This happens often and has come in handy. Some other fragrances on my wish list, like Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb, have been on my wish list for awhile, but it never seems like the perfect time to buy it because I always have multiple samples floating around in my collection. I hope that makes any kind of sense!

I'm really curious to hear about others' collecting philosophies.

What I mean by collecting philosophy is basically, **how do you go about curating your collection?** What are the "rules" of your collection-building process?

For example, my collecting philosophy more or less looks like:

*I want the smallest number of bottles I can have while covering all of my bases.*

* Keep the number small so I can actually wear things often enough in a year to justify owning them.
* Organize by use case: these are basically warm weather, cold weather, and formal.
* I don't own bottles unless I'm excited about my next opportunity to wear it.
* Has to perform reasonably well to be full-bottle worthy. 8 of my 9 bottles are EDP or Extrait.

As such, I have a 9-bottle collection where each really has a job it does in my rotation:

* 4 warm weather bottles. 3 versatile daily wearers (Creed Aventus; Pierre Guillaume Aqaysos; Nishane Hacivat) and 1 vacation/poolside scent (Alexandria Hawaii Volcano).
* 3 cool weather bottles (Tom Ford Noir Extreme; Dior Homme Intense; Cartier de Santos).
* 2 formal bottles for holiday partings, nighttime weddings etc (Tuscan Leather; Tobacco Vanille).

Plus probably 50-100 samples, a few small decants, etc. of things I'm considering buying, or just to really mix things up. Even with decants worth $20-30, I sell them on fairly fast if I know I don't like the scent enough to buy a bottle, as a means of going back toward funding a bottle.

What fragrance do you hate with a burning passion and what is the cause ?

Every Viktor & Rolf perfume comes with a special code on the inside of the box to unlock special deals and stuff. The one on the inside of my box was missing, which means someone had to open it before it arrived to me 😕 at least the smell is correct!

Nor do I like Viktor and Rolf Flowerbomb, and Clinique Happy made me physically recoil. Strong, woody scents are where it’s at, for me, but also aromatic and “green” scents.

For the last 9 months or so I thought I hated warm and sweet fragrances, especially vanilla, which is weird because I love sweet things in real life and I've never had issues with vanilla. But recently I decided to do a quick analysis of the scents I tried and their notes, turns out the culprit might actually be patchouli! In fragrances I didn't like, patchouli is pretty much in all of them. 

This suspicion that patchouli is the one thing ruining this for me is somewhat confirmed with my sampling of Ellis Brooklyn's Raven. I've never smelled patchouli on its own but I am so sure the thing that makes this fragrance smell like a musty herbal cabinet in a grandma's house is the patchouli. 

Then yesterday I was too tempted by a sale at the drugstore and blind bought Pink Sugar, even though I knew I might hate it because it's warm, sweet and it's got vanilla... but surprise - I do not hate it at all! I might actually love it a little. So now I feel like I have to go back to all those gourmand scents I previously discounted to find the ones with no patchouli and live my best life smelling like desserts. 

Any of you have similar moments where you suddenly realized the key to finding fragrances that you're guaranteed to love/hate?
