 This guy I have to my left is the legendary VOX AC 15 and I'm thinking is little to no introduction Because like I said, it's pretty famous little brother to the big AC 30 This is a perfect amp to have in the house If you want that classic VOX tone, but don't want to genuinely blow your windows out with the proper AC 30 It's got all the sounds in that we all know all the VOX chiminess that we all love. It's a great thing There's two variants. This is the greenback version There's also an alnico blue version Like I said, this is a perfect amp for in the house if you want that classic VOX tone But people play stadiums with these these have a sound of their own You can get them cooking a lot quicker than you can an AC 30 and a lot lower volume as well So you're not disrupting the stage or your kids sleeping upstairs What you're cooking inside are two EL84s in the power amp section and three 12ax7s in the preamp section There's a built-in spring reverb proper spring and a built-in tremolo, which is one of the nicest tremolos, I think I've ever heard. It's technically a two-channel amp, but it's not in the conventional way

Let's crank the air the top boost channel and get I Not gonna play Queen not anymore anyways That's what you can get when you crank the channel volumes on an AC 15 and it's not exactly loud I mean, I've got a live now because I'm in an empty room in the center of Newcastle with loads of Geordies going crazy outside but quieter I could play that in a room with someone sleeping in the door in the door sleeping there or Newcastle's at your center stuck in my mind sleeping in the door Sleep in air next door and you wouldn't make them at all and it's not all that nice bloom at a low volume It's great. Don't know how vox managed to do it

right now, i have a cheap 15 watt yamaha amp that breaks up whenever i turn it up high, and that just won’t cut it. i want a bigger, but affordable amp that will play well at small-medium gigs. the genres i play are mostly  grunge, alternative rock and shoegaze. does anyone have any suggestions?

 To be fair, there is some of that Vox trademark chime. I felt like there was a very shallow EQ spectrum with a fairly brittle mid-range that was difficult to overcome. That strange vibrating tone also returned. If your looking for the sound of an AC30 this just isn't it

 Again, at first it sounded great but slowly it revealed the same issues. Because it's 15W it lacks head room, and it was difficult to get a warm richness from the amp. You could gig with this amp with just a foot switch and an Abi switch. This amp actually comes without a foot switch or cover, and I wouldn't have minded to pay a bit more to have them included and not having to buy them separately because I think both of them will be pretty practical with this amp. <p>With that said, I have owned a Fender Cyber Deluxe and now own a Marshall MG30fx, but didn’t love either of them.  I mostly a “campfire” play-in-my-basement by myself player, but would like a pure tube amp and a couple of pedals that will let me play bluesy music…. AC/DC crunch…. And maybe some clean stuff.</p>

<p>Based on just reading, I was leaning toward a Vox ac15, but just want everyone’s opinions:</p>

I bought one and everyone in my band took their turns on it during practices but nobody was able to get it to sound great. We all would end up back on the Fender Super champ. I never realized how bad the thing sounded till I got a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe and compared them. The hot rod deluxe is an amazing amp whereas the vox sounds muddy, not clear and glassy in my opinion

 I/\s/used to also record parts on albums with it as/\s/ Well back in the day so let's take a listen to/\s/this I'm going to start with my volume control/\s/ down on neck pickup, it's still on the top boost/\s/channel Here we go. No delay or anything this time that's better than any tremolo pedal you can buy/\s/that rocks. If you play a Strat or a telecaster/\s/ through a Vox Ac15 you don't crank the tone/\s/cut all the way up, it's going to be very bright/\s/ now. some models might have different/\s/speakers and respond differently, but/\s/ any of my telecasters or Strats I've played/\s/through a Vox over the years sounds instantly/\s/ far brighter than humbuckers

Vox AC15C1X Amplifier Review & Best Settings Guide

Vox Ac15s have beautiful cleans that are dreamy and bell chime like, totally unique sound, and the Ac 15 is capable of breaking up at room appropriate volumes, and it has a distortion that is classed as 'British' (type similar to Marshall, as both amps were British and were featured prominently in 60s psychedelic acts like the Beatles and Jimi Hendrix). In short, Vox is the best overall, and the best of both worlds.

 Not a deal breaker as the amp takes pedals well but it would a good feature as wold be channel switching built in. Third and last I wish it came with a footswitch to turn the Trem and Verb on/off and switch between the top boost and normal channels. I know you can get it aftermarket but it would have been nice. Probably one of the reasons it's so affordable

 I hope Vox changed this out because I found anything over 2 on the stock tank way too much. Second would be an FX loop. Not a deal breaker as the amp takes pedals well but it would a good feature as wold be channel switching built in. Third and last I wish it came with a footswitch to turn the Trem and Verb on/off and switch between the top boost and normal channels

I've had this for about 3 years and I agree with every one here that this is a fantastic amp at a good price point. It's a wonderful sounding amp and gives you good chimey cleans and lush distorted breakup. It only gets better as the speaker breaks in so make sure you put lots of hours on it initially and you will be rewarded. If it was between this an a Blues Jr

 Got the top boost channel volume at ten o'clock treble and bass about uh, two o'clock tone cut still at 11. Masters still full up.  so turn about to one o'clock Put the master back on ten because we can and uh, maybe not quite up to one o'clock just over noon. Do something a little bit cartoonish for the reverb up too much just to show that the tank very much works. so this one's a little bit longer than my choice. [Music] [Music] So [Music] [Laughter] [Music] and if you turn the the gain all the way up on the top Boost channel, you're in silly heavy metal territory at least Hard Rock, so that's enough Quiet Riot for now

 Baby it. a flight case would be recommended with wheels, then you don't have to carry it. Pick the damn thing up, you just wheel it up a ramp or whatever and you just take the outer case off. It sits in the shelf with wheels
