If you have $190 to spend on those used speakers with no warranty (I don’t care what the seller claims, if they have no warranty then you should think of them as used) then you are ten bucks away from affording a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 220’s. I would choose those, no question. They’ll have a sound that’s more neutral, probably a bit toward the warm side of neutral, which for most people’s ears is a better bet. I would also probably choose the Wharfedales over the Elacs others have posted here

I previously posted my setup asking about a dac, but now I’ve realized that my left speaker is blown. I found some Polk RTi A1s listed for 190$ does anyone know if that would be a good fit for this setup?

I'm new to the hi-fi game and so these are the best speakers I've owned. I think the rose gold cones are a nice accent to the rest of my system which is black. My last speakers were budget speakers (Wharfedale Diamond 220) which sounded nice at lower volume but struggled when I turned the knob hard right. These are clearly in a different league

Outstanding sound quality .Really good base when matched with a good amplifier (Yamaha r n 402d) I've put them on a pair of minify speaker stands bought at the same time on Amazon. Highly recommend both the quality of the speakers and also the stands .

Hello, I am currently running a very budget and mostly second hand setup with an smsl sa50 and old Polk s4 Bookshelf speakers with a Dayton sub1000 . I am looking to upgrade my speakers (and amp) but would like to keep it under or around $300 if possible. I listen to everything from jazz, death metal, hip hop and house music so I'm not exactly sure which speakers would best meet all of my needs. My listening space is somewhat small too as the speakers are about 6 feet apart from each other. I have had my eyes on the newer Polk ES15 series, however after seeing the JBL studio 530s on sale for $240 I am quite unsure. Open to any suggestions!!! Thank you

Couple generations out I know, but I have the 9.0s and the 9.1s. The 9.0s need a sub really, they sound great but struggle with that little bit of grunt in the lower frequencies. The 9.1s on the other hand are a great stereo speaker, and as far as I know the 9s, 10s, 11s etc etc shared similar traits in terms of speaker size. 

I will say that they’re fantastic speakers though. The only reason I’d replace mine would be to get some floorstanders, but I’d probably need a bigger house for that so it would end up being a fair expense all in all.

I'm thinking of buying a used  **Marantz SR4500**  and connecting it to my PC's motherboard via optical cable, and using 2 used but decent quality hi fi speakers (just as a starter, until I can get something better)....for playing music on my PC mostly.

Front ported and down ported speakers are likely your best bet. Wharfedale diamond 220's are down ported and in your price range, for example.

I’m a little constrained for space. I’m looking for a speaker that is not too deep that can go flush against a wall. I assume that rules out rear-ported speakers?
