 This board feels smooth and stable on edge. It's just fluid with its transmission from toe to heel It's one of those boards that feels predictable, you know it's going to be able to carve you don't have to worry about it the mid bite does take over when you're on edge and you Can actually ankle steer it really well and feel that control from just minimal ankle move No short setup carves or mellow carves are really solid with this board. You don't have to worry about anything You're locked in you're gonna be able to do it It's when you aggressively drive this board through that center camber and off the tail that you notice that it's gripping on that inside mid bite on the rear foot and You can really steer it and lay this thing over you want to leave a trench go for it You don't have to worry about it's got enough stability and dampening that it's not going to kick out on you Who's this board for the all-mountain rider with a slight freestyle focus? This is a super well balanced board and I like what it is You know, you've got camber with a little bit more rocker in there Which just makes it a little more playful and forgiving when you get into soft snow It's easier to butter on and jib with because you do have that wider platform You have slam back inserts if you want to set it back for a pow day. It's great It's just a well-balanced board

 So basically it's cam rocker You're gonna get that load and pop traditional camber underfoot But you got that ease of entry in and out of turns from the rocker as well as more Optimal powder float and a little bit more play out there. This board is available in 149 151 153 156 159 162 and 161 I wrote this board at Copper Mountain on a mostly sunny day with low to moderate winds Warmer temps you had chunder snow icy snow firm fast groomers kind of just a mix of everything that was springlike And I wrote it with my Rome black label bindings and my k2 thru-axis boots This board comes in on the stiffer side of the all-mountain freestyle flex I mean that's kind of to be expected with what this board is designed for so you do get slightly softer tip and tail and then it stiffens up through that camber section with a noticeable amount of torsional flex But it's not enough that you overpower it or that it domineers it this board is slightly stiffer I mean as I said you need to be aware of that so you're not gonna overpower it with that torsional flex now when it comes to stability The camber section through the inserts is the stiffest and most stable section of the board That's just a given and you have this clear defined flex point right where the camber comes down into that rocker You're gonna notice the chatter in the tips because it's especially amplified due to that rocker and that resonates back underfoot and right where that camber meets that rocker zone That's where it is abundantly clear that there is a flex point and it is not as stable as the rest of this board What's nice about this board is the camber coming into that rocker section. It gives you a little spring board So when you load that camber up it hits that rocker zone and it springs You're gonna get some solid snap this thing wants to boost side hits rollers It's got a decent amount of snap to it. Now when it comes to jumps Medium and large jumps are really a strong suit

 You're gonna spring off. You're gonna land. You're gonna look right away Now when you get sideways This more or less balances on the feature. It doesn't really cradle or hug it

The 2022 Yes Standard Snowboard Review

I'm an advanced/expert level, 6'3 (1,93m) 198 lbs (90 kg), size 11.5 (46) 30 years old male that have been snowboarding for 20 years.
I qhred in the French alps.
What about the T Rice Orca ? I'm looking for a playful freeride board that can still do well on groomers and send a few spins on side jumps.
I was also looking in the direction of the Yes. Standard

Need help to choose a new all-mountain freeride board

 Flex-wise it sits around a 7 out of 10. The wood core is sandwiched between more reactive triax fiberglass layers and this gives the board a slightly stiffer feel torsionally, which will suit riders who like to push their top end speeds and tend to ride with a more aggressive style. That's finished off with a lightning fast sintered base which absorbs a lot of wax and will keep the board gliding fast in all conditions, even if it's been a while since your last service. The standard has all the hallmarks of a modern day classic

 To all intents and purposes then, the standard is going to ride and feel exactly like a true twin snowboard. Here's where it gets a little different though. The guys at Yes put a lot of emphasis on the surface area of their snowboards and how that relates to performance in various types of terrain. And what they've done here is increased the volume of the nose with the slightly drawn out radius from the contact points out to the end of the board

Now this won't affect any of the boards freestyle or twin performance, but by effectively sneaking in some added volume at the end here, as soon as you take it off piste you'll benefit from all the added surface area by getting increased lift in the nose. Combined with these additional slam back inserts, if you do wake up to blower conditions you can simply position the bindings further back on the boards length and create a big difference in the surface area between the nose and the tail

I have a similar riding style - something like a Yes Standard or a Bataleon Jam might work well if you are looking for a “single quiver” - directional twins with a stiffer flex.

Shopping around for a new board for the first time in coming up on 2 decades and trying to get some feedback. I’m an advanced rider, get down just about anything without issue. Really only avoid EX terrain type stuff. Just don’t have the stones to hit gnarly chutes or drop off cliffs with 2 young kids to take care of. Don’t ride park, but hit the occasional side hit or log if the line looks good. Like steeps, trees and technical terrain that requires planning a line and executing. Currently ride a very old Burton Custom 152 

Most of my riding will be mostly on the east coast, with trips to other places as my schedule allows. I’m 5’8” @ 150-160lbs and wear an 8.5 size boot. 

I’d been eyeing the Burton Instigator 155, Ride Warpig 148 and Lib Tech Orca 147 as boards that seemed well regarded and fit my rider profile. Any other boards I’m overlooking? If I can’t make a decision I’ll demo something, but I’m in WNY so not a ton of ski shops and demo choices when the season rolls around.

What board would you buy if you were me?

 The hybrid camber, it's got a nice kind of locked in butter spot on the tail nose. It's got the symmetrical flex. A lot of those nose rolls I'm holding a lot longer. The board has a stiffness to kind of roll on them and put your weight, but it won't really wash out

 The volume directional shape lets the tail sink a little bit more. I was just really impressed with how it handled. Coming from a Capita DOA, this is a whole new experience. It's pretty icy, so it's got some great edge hold

 If you ride in the East Coast and need ice hold, it's going to be a great board for you. So I'm going to show more clips about how the board flexes, how it does in powder and uneven terrain. But just starting off with some carving clips. And it's a really fun board to carve

 In comparison to the DOA, I found this board to be a little bit more forgiving while having better ice hold. I mean, somehow the rockers of the nose and tail compared to the flat of the DOA, the rockers are just really nice to butter on. You get this smooth, catch free kind of platform there. You can kind of throw down the nose

YES Standard 2021 Snowboard Review

Looking for some advice from any girls out there that are intermediate - advanced snowboarders. Any recommendations on snowboards you like for my girlfriend who is looking to upgrade. 

She rides a Burton Yeasayer (flat camber profile) at the moment and wants something a bit more aggressive/ with more edge hold so she can start improving her carving. An all mountain/ all mountain freestyle board, not too fussed if its not awesome in the park just something to mostly shred groomers on, few small jumps here and there, maybe some butter tricks. We are in Australia so can tend to see a bit of hard snow conditions.

What do you recommend?

 That's the one thing I look for in a board. If you can send it 20 feet and not worry about any chatter or flex when you land it's the right board for me. This board is really great for all-mountain riding. From park to peak you can take this thing at any point on the hill and have a good time
