Does anybody have an ultra-small (~size of a smart phone) ereader?

I am VERY new to the eink space. I've been doing some heavy reading on r/eink and [ledstrain.org](https://ledstrain.org) to aid my decision on which phone to get, and was looking for some additional advice.

I live in the US, which restricts my options, but from what I've gathered:

* The Hisense A5cc is still a viable option even after 3G's discontinuation in February 2022
* The Hisense A7 does not function as well as the A5 in the US
* The A9 just came out but due to its processor, the likelihood of band compatibility in the US is low.

Can anyone steer me in the right direction? Looks to me like the A5cc is the way to go

I own a boox mira pro, now looking for a phone

I have considered it just for not carrying around another reader specific device. In the end I use too much my phone to have a e-ink technology on it so I discarded the idea. Still interested in the Xiaomi Inkpad 5 for a complementary easily carried device.

Have a Yotaphone 2 (Android 4 dual screen; e-ink on back and regular on front)

E-ink side 

- uses less power (lots of screen refresh reduces this)
- is easily used in bright sunlight (made for it really)
- preferred for reading (reflected light is easier on eyes)

So lightweight usage in bright locales is optimal. Newer phones do have built-in lighting, which is nice but reduces again any power savings.

Bought a Hisense A7 from China and I love it. I use it for reading and for audiobooks and for navigation. Fast, lots of storage, long battery life. I usually carry it in my backpack or in my jacket. For all the other stuff I use and old Iphone. Small, bad battery, but gets the job done through the day. I would not recommend an e-ink-phone for daily use, but the a7 has a speed mode that works quite well if you  use the internet. It‘s not for everyone, but you can to use an e-ink-phone for all purposes except videos.

Why E-ink Phones?

Hi! I'm looking for an eink ereader that fits into women's pockets. Wondering if anything exists that matches my criteria. Willing to consider anything under $1000 if this unicorn exists. Commonly recommended small ereaders like the Kindle, Kobo Mini, and Pocketbook are too large for me.

Things I want:
- Less than 6inch screen
- Sleek design that keeps the device width narrower than 3.5inches
- English language capability
- Ability to load and read epubs
- No spyware, or spyware that can be disabled. Happy to tinker with the device (rooting, NetGuard, etc) as long as it can be done

Things I don't care about:
- Color. Black and white is fine.
- Difficulty to acquire. Hit me with those discontinued 2010 devices or obscure Chinese ereaders.
- Phone-like functionality. A pure ereader would be better than a phone.

From my search, I've come up with a few possible options.

[Xiaomi Moaan Inkpalm 5](https://www.cect-shop.com/en/xiaomi-moaan-inkpalm-5.html): This sleek, phone-sized ereader matches everything I want except the spyware issue. Xiaomi has received flak for privacy concerns and data collection. Sideloading NetGuard might be an option, but users have reported the device crashing with some Android apps due to not being built for that purpose and the limited 1GB RAM. I'm not sure if NetGuard will run. Is it possible to disable outgoing network traffic on the Inkpalm?

[Sony PRS-350](https://www.cnet.com/reviews/sony-reader-pocket-edition-prs-350-review/): This 2010 ereader is a bit chunky for me at 4.2 inches wide, but otherwise has high build quality and matches the rest of my criteria. I like this device but would prefer not to go with it due to the unsupported Sony OS and the width preventing it from fitting into my pockets.

[Hisense A5](https://www.cect-shop.com/en/hisense-a5.html) and other models in the same line: These are solid options, but they're phones rather than ereaders, and are overloaded for my use case. I'm worried that might introduce distractions, bloat, or new privacy concerns.

What are the smallest ereaders on the market?

Hi, i have severe dry eye. And staring at screens ( especially because of the blue lights ) make it worse. As i cant stop looking at screens. I was thinking of getting an e ink phone. I want the phone which could be a replacement for my current phone. Can you suggest me any eink phone that will fit into my lifestyle which will include internet browsing, google play store, gmail and all the other stuff you do on your phone.  And also with a good refresh rate. So i dont feel like my phone's lagging. My only e ink device right now is kindle, and the way its screen flicker on every refresh frustrates me. I hope the smartphones to not be like that. 

Please  help me choose a right e ink phone.  Dry eye has made my life a living hell. Its all started beause of my habit of staring at my phone and computer for a long period of time.  I believe stoping the use of regular screen will immensely help to stop a lot of symptoms of it. 

Plus, if you are in similar situation like me, how have you manage to reduce the symptoms?

Can you help me choose an e ink smartphone?

Your standard SIM tool won't be long enough to dislodge it from the handset though, you'll have to use Yota's elongated tool which arrives in the box, or in my case a slender paper clip.
