The Jasmine cycle is 57 minutes, and the rice at that point is an inedible sponge that needs to be fluffed and to sit for at least five more minutes. Previously I had a super cheap rice cooker that was like $25. I decided to step up and get something nicer. At roughly $130 I was expecting this thing to make some amazing rice.  I was rudely awakened to first learn it takes AN HOUR to make rice versus the 20 or so minutes with my cheap one

I read other reviews stating that you have to put in less water than the directions

Too Complicated, Not Disheasher Safe

For us, a great rice cooker is essential and our recent Zojirushi induction model with Jasmine setting is amazing. We used to cook mostly jasmine but now do incredible Gaba Brown most often. We thought this smaller NS-LHC05 was going to be ideal for our second home yet saddened to learn that for brown rise, two cups is max. Too small for our family! If you don’t do brown and like Jasmine, I recommend it

Not the capacity I was lead to believe:

Maybe I had too high expectation because of the price but I do not like how the rice comes out. I feel it's very mushy and gross. It also takes too long to cook. You can't change the setting once it's heated so even when you realize it won't be ready by the dinner time, you can't switch it to quick cook

Do not expect too much

... it doesn't cook rice well- it does do a great job. BUT

 This cooker, the moisture collects into the holding cup under the outer steam cover, see pic, just remove the cover after cooking and soak up the water with a sponge. They don’t seem to make the traditional cooker with the quick removable moisture basket any more. It bubbles over the steam cover, but the steam cover is easily removable to clean. The inner top 2 lids, only the bottom one easily pops out to clean, see pic, which is the one requiring regular cleaning anyways

Works.  Worth it? U decide

Happy! Downsized from 10cup to 3cup rice cooker!

 To be worth the price, this one really had to do far better than our $20 one.  Our first batch in this cooker came out very mushy when we used the measuring cup provided and the amount of water to the appropriate water line. The second time I used one actual cup of rice and filled to the 1 cup water line and it came out PERFECT. Cooked through, just the right amount of chew/texture, no mushy grains to be found

It is absolutely worth the price to get rice that good every time. Now I am excited to make sushi rice and other specialty rices

  The only downside is it takes an hour to make 1 cup (dry) of rice, while our old cooker would do the same in about 20 minutes. However, the quality of the cooked rice that comes out is well worth planning ahead a bit more for dinner.  Overall, well worth the price and makes PERFECT rice.

  I'm no expert, but to me, there's nothing "quick" about making white rice in 39 minutes! I should be able to do brown rice in that time  If the looooooong cook times don't bother you, it's a good rice cooker

I thought maybe it was just my cooker, but I see other reviews that talk about 90+ cook times It makes good rice, but my other Zojirushi did white rice in 22-24 minutes.  Of the three Zojirushi rice makers I've had, this is the only one that takes literally 98 minutes to cook brown rice. I'm not kidding, 1 hour, 38 minutes!  There have been many occasions where I ended up cooking something other than rice because I didn't remember to start the rice at 4:30pm! Or I didn't get home until 5:30, and brown rice wouldn't be done until after 7pm  It just seems absurd. I've been using it a year and I'm finally looking to replace it because of the absurdly long cook times

WARNING! 60 min for white rice and 98 min for brown! "Quick" setting for white is even 39 min!
