 In my opinion, these three features are probably the most used features with the Zoom H1n. However, I don't use all three frequently. I only use maybe one or two of them. And those two are probably the limiter and the low-cut filter

Let's face it, all camera microphones are pretty horrible, it doesn't matter if it's a DSLR, point and shoot, or even a mirrorless camera, they're all going to be pretty bad. For instance, here's what the audio from the Zoom H1n sounds like

 Alright now moving on to reason number four, the Zoom H1n is super easy to use. For starters, the Zoom H1n doesn't have so many features to where it's overwhelming for beginners, so it's easy to pick it up and start using it right away. However, keep in mind that the Zoom H1n does have some functions and features that may seem confusing at first, but over time you'll start to understand them more by doing research and just looking up some information about this sound recorder and microphone. So just understand that you'll learn over time

I record driving videos, about an hour or two long and I want to capture engine and wind noise and such in the cabin for audio. I am not speaking, nor do I want to capture voice. I currently just use the built in mic on my gopro, which works pretty well for my use. 

But sometimes it picks up air flow from the AC or it doesn’t get all the sounds because of its position. 

So I want to get something that is really easy to use, small so it’s not super visible or distracting, wireless so it’s faster to set up. 

I think that the Røde Wireless Go looks like it would be perfect, but most reviews focus on how well it can clean up the audio and remove background noise. Would it be good for the opposite?

 Once you get yourself orientated where each button is located, it's easy to set it up to your liking. 3. The sound quality was generally quite good, whether using the microphones or the audio input jack. 4

 No amount of adjustments (changing input levels, moving switches, testing connections, battery changes, etc.) seemed to remedy the problem. The distortion was particularly bad when recording speech.  I really wanted to like the Zoom H1

 The unit I bought lacked durability. After roughly 4 days of use (in indoors settings with very little handling), the unit developed distortion in the left channel. No amount of adjustments (changing input levels, moving switches, testing connections, battery changes, etc.) seemed to remedy the problem

 The sound quality was generally quite good, whether using the microphones or the audio input jack. 4. The unit is small and lightweight, only taking one battery to operate. Using the audio input jack, I found I could get a little over 5 hours of record time with a standard AA battery before it drained and the recording stopped

 The distortion was particularly bad when recording speech.  I really wanted to like the Zoom H1. And if the unit had remained functional without distortion, I likely would have kept it. But I couldn't live with the distortion, so I will move on and try the Tascam DR-05, hoping for better durability and performance

Small and lightweight, but not durable

 I also picked up one of these little things from a local store. Okay, so here we are at the drum kit. I've got the drum wallet on the snare drum so we've got more of a dry sound going on and let's hear how quickly the Zoom H1 dynamically adjusts or adapts to the volume and then I'll flip the drum wallet off and we'll have more of an open snare drum and see how it picks up the differences in tone between the two. So let's check it out

 And I've got to say really, really impressed. You've got the ability to put a line into it as well. So you can plug like an external microphone, if you've got something like a Rode VideoMic Pro or for example in there, you can plug that in, or obviously, straight out of a mixing desk, your stereo, stereo jacks to three and a half mil stereo can go in there. And you've got your headphones, stroke line out as well

 So if you were doing drum videos, and you were sitting behind a kit, and you were just speaking, and then you go and play some drum bits, you're going to get the first sort of five seconds are going to be distorted while it adjusts to the sound pressure. And of course, vice versa, when you stop drumming, you start speaking, it's going to be very quiet until it adjusts the sensitivity. But it's a great touch, because I mean, if you're like me, you record a lot of stuff on your own, an auto mic gain, something like this, is a nice little feature. Once you know how it works, and you can cater for that, it's a no brainer, it's so simple to use

 I've got the drum wallet on the snare drum so we've got more of a dry sound going on and let's hear how quickly the Zoom H1 dynamically adjusts or adapts to the volume and then I'll flip the drum wallet off and we'll have more of an open snare drum and see how it picks up the differences in tone between the two. So let's check it out. Okay. Okay, so there you go

 What's up guys it's Andy and this is my review over the Zoom H1 portable digital audio recorder slash microphone. So the Zoom H1 is a very popular device when it comes to beginners looking to improve their audio quality. If you're a podcaster or if you make videos or if you want to record music, if you're a journalist, it's perfect for a lot of beginners because it does have some good quality audio that you can use as a microphone or as its own portable digital audio recorder. So let's get right into this review and then we'll do an audio quality test so you can hear what the Zoom H1 sounds like

 No it does sound good. I've used this for a lot of my videos and it does work perfectly. It fits right in your pocket or you can mount it to a tripod and just do it or you can hold it in front of your face like I'm doing right now. So it does produce some great quality audio for $99

 So far in this video I've been recording the audio with my Rode VideoMic Pro shotgun mic on my DSLR. Now let's switch over to the Zoom H1 so you can hear how that sounds compared to this. So now you're hearing the audio from the Zoom H1 which is about almost two feet away from me with the input control set to about 60 and I'm recording in the 320 kilobit MP3 format. So hopefully it sounds good

 And you have the three options, the low cut, the auto level, and the recording format. It does support WAV and MP3s. And there's also a tripod mount where you can mount this to any tripod that has a standard tripod screw. And on the top you have the heart of the Zoom H1 which is the XY stereo microphone

A small digital recorder, reliable and easy to operate

, requires laser vision, and the selection of bit rate is sufficiently complex to invite disaster. Zoom would have done much better to offered several MP3 settings rather than providing a numbering system extending from 1 to 1400 plus). To put it plainly, ultimately audio quality is a function of form and materials. Zoom has come up with winning sound through the most fragile plastic means, but it's far from reassuring--instead, a recipe for disaster

 It has far fewer controls, but they're all solid buttons--there is no skin surface requiring you to feel around for the right spot. As for negatives, it's far too large and gaudy to be useful for "stealth" recordings, and the videos aren't good enough to account for the extra size and weight of the machine. The Sony costs even more than the Zoom 4n, it records only in WAVE format (no compressed recordings are possible, MP3 files or otherwise), but it's almost a quarter of the price of Sony's top-of-the-line "Professional" model and, according to most reviews, is barely distinguishable from Sony's best in terms of accurate audio reproduction ("fidelity" is about being faithful to the live sound source). Using it is a pleasure, because of the rock-solid build quality

 the H4n may be as low as you dare go in the Zoom line.]  Original review: before the Zoom H2 appeared just several years ago, there seemed to be little to no interest on the part of manufacturers in bringing to market high-quality personal digital audio recorders. There were the popular 8-track units that seemed best-suited for hobbyists willing to commit extended periods of time to the intricacies and hefty instruction manuals of these machines. But with the H2, near-professional audio quality was suddenly a practical reality, easily in reach of the musician or fan looking for a quick, handy, compact, intuitive recording device

 Aside from the missing audio "enhancement" that I hear in the H2 (especially when the pick-up pattern is set for 120 or 360 degrees), I'm quite satisfied that the H1 is the biggest bang for the least buck in the emerging field of truly "personal," user-friendly, ultra-convenient digital audio recorders. And to top it off, there's even an onboard speaker, frequently useful to busy musicians who from time to time simply want to check out recorded "content." (I wouldn't be surprised if the H1 is both my last digital recorder and the one that receives the most use.)

A keeper, but for how long?

 That's a full sized USB port and yes you can record audio in your PC directly by connecting the USB port to your PC and that's a good thing. Many of my friends do that but I personally use the device like this because I can move around with the device plus I do not have to worry about one wire which I will have to if I connect it to my PC. So that's another nice thing and yes you can use the zoom h1 to do live streaming from your PC or you can use this device for in game calls if you play CSGO or some other game. This is how it sounds when I am in a room and this is how it sounds when I am in an open space where there is lot of background noise for sure and there is wind flowing right now

Let me tell you why I think that the zoom h1 is the best budget microphone to buy. Because good visuals with a bad audio ends up creating a bad video after all

 My preferred settings are low cut on and auto level off to make sure audio sounds good and stays smooth overall. I keep switching between recording formats though. MP3 will produce a low size file whereas VAV will create a higher sized sound file. Then we have their big double A battery which powers this monster

 You should absolutely go with the zoom h1. I have multiple other friends who have changed from samsung go mic or from blue yeti. I myself changed from blue yeti to zoom h1 and there are many other friends who are using zoom h1 and they are 100% satisfied with it.
