If you're looking for an action camera, the best cheap camera we've tested for action video is the AKASO V50X. It's incredibly portable and easy to mount with several mounting accessories in the box. The camera itself feels decently put-together, but it also comes with a protective case that renders it waterproof to an advertised depth of 131 ft (40 m).

Its menu system is easy to navigate, and you can connect the camera to your smartphone through AKASO's companion app, which lets you preview footage and control the camera remotely. The camera has a good battery life, lasting for approximately 90 minutes of continuous recording on a full charge, though battery life can also vary with settings and usage. It has a fantastic video stabilization feature that effectively smooths out camera shake, albeit with a bit of a crop.

Unfortunately, its frame rate options are limited compared to more expensive action cameras, as it can only record 4k video at 30 fps and 1080p video at either 30 fps or 60 fps. That means you can still capture fast action footage in FHD, but it's not great for high-speed recording or slow-motion video. Still, for under $100, this is a serviceable action camera that won't break the bank.

The best GoPro alternative we've tested for those on a budget is the AKASO V50X. It's lightweight and portable, and it feels solidly built, with a rubberized outer coating that provides a more secure grip and a screen that's bright enough to overcome glare. It comes with several mounting accessories in the box, as well as an additional protective case that's advertised to render it waterproof to a depth of 131 ft.

This camera has a fantastic video stabilization feature that effectively smooths out camera shake whether you're shooting in 4k or 1080p and whether you're moving quickly or slowly, although enabling it does incur a significant crop on your videos. It delivers okay video quality when shooting in 4k in brighter lighting conditions, though it's comparable to other GoPro alternatives and performs worse in 1080p and dimly-lit conditions.

Unfortunately, its frame rate options are limited. It can only shoot at 30 or 60 fps in 1080p, which is suitable for capturing fast action but less suited to generating slow-motion footage, and the camera is limited to 30 fps in 4k. On the upside, it has a decent battery life in video, and unlike some other cheaper GoPro alternatives, it also gives you the option to adjust the camera's field of view. Overall, this camera offers lots of value for its price, making it a good choice for those on a budget.

For action video, there's nothing better than a portable action camera, but if you don't want to dish out for a GoPro, there are still some decent options that'll let you capture action footage without spending a fortune. The menu system is divided in three parts as well, so we get the video settings menu and just to give you an example if you go into the video settings menu you can change the resolution and as I mentioned earlier we have a lot of resolutions available, you can turn on or off the image stabilization, you can turn on or off the gyroscope, you can even turn on or off the microphone, the camera's microphone depending if you wanna record the sound or not

Akaso V50X Review & Sample Videos - Best Akaso Action Camera Yet!

 In today's video we are checking out the latest action camera from Acaso, the V50X.

 This is in fact cheaper than the V50 Pro and the V50 Elite and in my opinion this is also

 a bit better but I'll let you guys decide throughout this video.

 So this camera you can record in 4K at 30 frames per second, you can also do 1080p at

 90 frames per second or 720p at 120 frames per second and what's impressive is the fact

 that the EMI stabilization works at any resolution and I guess we should start by checking out

 some samples with the EMI stabilization on and with the EMI stabilization off so you

 can see how the EMI stabilization works on it.

 And next we are gonna do a quick running test so we can see how the EMI stabilization does

 And as you've seen for yourself the EMI stabilization works really good and definitely better than

 As I mentioned earlier you can do 1080p at 90 frames per second and 720p at 120 frames

 per second and that means that you can do slow motion videos with this camera and next

 I wanna show you a couple of samples that I've done in 1080p at 90 frames per second

 And as you've seen for yourself the video quality isn't as good as if you'd record

 in 4K at 30 frames per second but that makes sense and that feature could come in handy

 So I think we should start with a very quick unboxing so first of all the camera comes

 in a very cool looking box and the first thing you see is basically the camera in the waterproof

 The waterproof case is good to up to 30 meters in the water but obviously I haven't been

 swimming with it but I did have it in water and there was no water going inside.

 In the box you're also gonna find a small user manual and a remote control.

 Keep in mind that the remote control is not waterproof but from the remote control you

 can basically start and stop the recordings and take pictures without actually touching

 the camera so that could come in handy as well.

 There are also two batteries for the camera and a battery charger.

 Now on one charge you can get about 60 minutes if you're recording in 4K at 30 frames per

 second or about an hour and a half if you're recording in 1080p so it really depends on

 You can also charge the camera while recording so if you have a power bank with you you can

 just plug in that power bank and you can keep recording while charging the camera so that's

 definitely an important feature as well.

 And aside from that there are a bunch of mounts and stickers in the box so you can basically

 place the camera anywhere so on a helmet, on a bicycle or anything like that so definitely

 The camera itself is fairly small and it is entirely made out of this rubberized plastic

 so at least it's not going to get scratched that easily not to mention that this actually

 feels more expensive than the V50 Pro or the V50 Elite.

 So on the front we have the power button and the lens at the top we have the holes for

 the microphone, the recording button and an LED.

 On the right hand side we have a couple of buttons so you can zoom in or out to those

 buttons and you can also turn on or off the Wi-Fi.

 On the other side we have the micro USB charging for the HDMI out and the slot for the SD card.

 So this camera can take SD cards up to 64GB and I tried a 64GB SD card and it does seem

 to work fine and there will be a link in the video's description just in case you don't

 know what SD card to get for this camera.

 This camera can also take external microphones I was supposed to get an external microphone

 for it but it never showed up so I'm not sure where the microphone is so I didn't try an

 external microphone with it but it should work fine with external microphones.
