6" laptop I use for work fit perfectly in the laptop compartment. A touch of brilliance is that the underside of the shoulder pad is unfinished leather, I assume, so the bag never slides of your shoulder. if I were to nit pick, I'd say that the pockets on the inside could have been executed better.  We've also got two thick leather hole handles at the top here which are made of that same beautiful saddle grade bridle leather. That's actually been sourced from North America and actually tanned in USA tanneries. Getting into the main compartment we have a storm flap here covering the main compartment and that's secured by a button clasp here. There's a little solid brass stud and this is actually an iconic Filson staple

 This is made of the same rugged twill that we saw on the outside. There are three pen slots here, another slot that's good size for a phone and another slot for bigger sized items and just below that is another slot for business cards. And then on either side of the brief there are these two document pockets. I'd suggest using one as the laptop compartment and the other one for other documents or magazines

 There's a good reason why it's still the yardstick that many use to measure others by. But of course, at $325 this bag is not cheap. And even in the second hand market, usually they'll hover somewhere around $200. So if you're going to spend north of three bills for a bag, it really pays to look at some competitive options

I love the bag but hate the price. If someone made something similar for half the price this bag would never make it out of the sewing room. Come on, owning a "Filson" bag carries no cache for the owner. For most of us that want a decent bag to carry our computer in, the name would not make a difference

I didn't, my wife bought it for me. But I will give it 4 stars for quality and would have given it 5 if the price were less

I love the bag but hate the price.

 It is too small. I can barely get a lap top, charger, and mouse in it, with a little room to spare.  I'm disappointed enough I won't buy another Filson product sight-unseen like I did this.

 Hard to believe how quickly the canvas faded (I've had it 2 years).  If I had to do it over again I wouldn't, I'd pass on this bag for at least 2 reasons:  1. I don't think it is worth the money: for the better part of $300, it is hard to justify little canvas bag in my mind. 2

Well made, but too small.  Canvas fades quickly.

 It can last a lifetime, but leather is heavy and it doesn't flex, okay? Sometimes you really just need a fabric. That's where this comes into play. Most of the time I run things pretty lean. I carry a laptop, an iPad, a book

 Zippers I'm generally not a fan of. Why? Well, zippers inevitably become a failure point in anything, but I'm going to have a zipper. I want a YKK zipper. YKK is the gold standard of zippers and this one has a YKK zipper and a big one

 It's bridal leather. It's by a tannery called Wicken and Craig. Wicken and Craig is one of the OGs in the US tannery space. So they've been around since I think the 1860s

 Flies under the radar. Another thing I love about this is just how simple the design is. You got a pocket on the front and on the back, which I use all the time. And then you have basically three sections on the inside
