6" laptop I use for work fit perfectly in the laptop compartment. A touch of brilliance is that the underside of the shoulder pad is unfinished leather, I assume, so the bag never slides of your shoulder. if I were to nit pick, I'd say that the pockets on the inside could have been executed better. Cannot use carry strap as the bag flips over upside down. Also needs 2 carry handles on top or it sags. Would not buy as a work briefcase. Maybe good for something else but not everyday use

I just bought the Topo Designs Global Briefcase 3 day in black for a lot of the reasons you laid out. I’m using it as an EDC for work and will be taking it on two weekend trips in October so we’ll see how it does. I like everything about it.

Can anyone help with some additional insights, maybe someone that has/had both. I like both designs. I‘m really struggling to decide : (

I looking for a bag that is EDC that is suitable for office/client meetings and can be travel bag for the 2-3 days. For travel I don‘t pack too much stuff (generally extra pants, shirt and a few undies &amp; socks), unless I‘m taking my full frame camera and two lenses inkl. iPad &amp; Kindle with me.

I do have a Crumpler Director's Cut Board Backpack with 44 L for longer 1-2 week trips. 

**What speaks for the Black Ember**
-	Basically water-proof (don‘t really need a rain cover)
-	can hide the straps
-	overall a tad bit more „professional“

**What speaks for the AER**
-	More organizational features
-	More space, but can be slimed down or compressed to reduce volume
-	A lot accessories already included vs Black Ember have to be bough separately 
-	water bottle holder (but not a deal breaker)

How do the straps of these two compare? 

**What‘s important to me**
-	High quality (buy once and for life/good warranty)
-	Durable (goes hand in hand with the previous)

I‘m not sure I should also trough in the **Director’s Cut Laptop M** as well. Don’t know how well the Soft lightweight 290D Nylon material would hold up. Not a material expert. Any thoughts?

I‘m not worried about the following:

-	Price (more or less the same) and as long as I‘m not overpaying for brand or features, that‘s OK
-	Weight (although lighter is always better)

Looking for slim backpack recommendations

 Especially the fact that it doesn’t fall over after you set it on a chair and look away. Zippers are bear proof and easy to use one handed. There’s a place for everything without excessive TPC (total pocket count).

It’s easy for a new bag to earn WGB, but not easy to keep it for more than a week. We’re into week three and still loving the brilliant design and excellent fabrication of this bag. World’s Greatest Bag

 The Global Briefcase checks all the boxes for me; the build quality is stellar, it is incredible comfortable to wear while being active, and it fits my Macbook Pro 16”, my iPad Pro, my chargers, and a change of clothes for when I get to the office. Simply amazing!

 One of the primary reasons I chose it was that I loved the color of the blue one as it appears on my computer. The actual blue is much less interesting, it is more of a primary blue rather than the blue with a hint of green that appears on the screen. Disappointing.
