 Came out of the box wicked sharp and this auto packs some real snap. Safety was a bit ratchety out of the box but quickly smoothed out with some use. I used a touch of good lube on the pivot and safety and release button as they all seemed dry from the factory. Overall a pretty sweet knife

Long overdue but worth the wait.

 That'S difficult to carry. We'Ve got 6061 t6 aluminum. We have a titanium back, spacer, which i always thought was funny on this thing, it's kind of weird and not something that benchmade normally does uh, and then we have a hundred and thirteen thousands, probably more. Like 115, thousands on the spine of the blade weight on this guy there's just not a lot of material here, not a lot of density and thickness

 Maybe i over tighten it that's something that can happen with a knife that has really really high tolerances or really really tight tolerances. Let'S keep it in there and see if we can still keep it on center. Is it there, maybe ever so slightly off, but it is very, very close there we go yeah, okay, no issues there. It'S not sometimes it's nice to show that kind of stuff on camera, but yeah

 But what we see is largely 6061 t6 aluminum their quality build and then that steel now every now and then i hear somebody complain about that, but not very much, and i honestly don't complain about it much because 154cm cpm154 are two of my favorite steels of All time, in fact, that is my favorite composition for use s30v. It'S right around the same mark, a lot of people like it. A lot of people still call it. You know their best skill

Strangely not a great knife, not even a very good knife, which falls well short of the mark the benchmade  made his set.  The pocket clip makes holding the knife uncomfortable to say the least. The locking mechanism on the one I received is next to impossible to release once the knife is deployed. I realize this is most likely a defect in this particular knife, but for the price point and the quality the benchmade normally put forward it is truly disappointing

 The grip even without the belt clip is not fantastic, it’s really not even that comfortable. Am returning the knife and will be switching to a different model. Would not recommend this knife to others, even without the obvious defect.

Not my favorite by a long shot.

 It's a knife. You're gonna love for the rest of your life. Yada. Yada And maybe I am completely alone here and let's be real here me reviewing a four inch knife He's a lot like asking a squirrel to review the ergonomic comfort of a reclining sofa But take this with a grain of salt, but go handle it yourself That's kind of the important thing both for the quality control side and to see if you feel the same thing as if you pick This knife up and you like no that's great my hand then buy the freaking knife if you handle it You love it

 The other thing that the axis lock brings us here is the ambidextrousness This knife is completely ambidextrous. It is drilled for tip up a tip down carry on the right side I'm sorry It is drilled for tip up carry war there tip up carry on the right side of the left side There is no tip down option on this guy I'm not crying you might be but this knife because it's an axis lock is completely ambidextrous with ambidextrous studs a lefty We'll get the same experience of this knife as a righty. So that's nice price on this guy isn't honestly bad Um, it's 200 bucks, but that's a very large chunk of s30v an interesting design some titanium some nice little touches details here I I don't really feel like it Benchmade has made some pricing decisions I don't agree with but I don't really struggle with this guy given the size given everything here I feel like that's a fine price and so that's that's a okay And finally on the good side this particular knife is actually pretty good in terms of quality control Um that spades had some issues in that department But this one was given hand selected at a store by the previous owner But it is still nice to see a very well-tuned piece coming out of Benchmade here This has a nice kind of relatively false shut smooth action, even though it's not been used all that much So it'll get even smoother over time, but there's no blade play vertical or horizontal with that So that's very very good and I appreciate that and so all of that combined is the good of this guy It's this one's fine. Um, this is indeed a very nicely made knife It has a beautiful design and I think it's a nicely made tool It's a good honest cutting tool and that's that's great to me And indeed I think if you pick one of these guys up because you like the size design whatnot It will be a tool that will serve you well as would be the mini crooked river Which Benchmade is said is coming in the future Which I'm really looking forward to because this design at a more manageable size sounds incredible to me But the thing is to me at least this is a knife that I really did not enjoy using Carrying it was fine But using it just drove me a little bit nuts and I don't think this is actually about the size Is there are a lot of huge knives that I've loved I mean even right now on the table this guy the 452 is an incredible knife the Benchmade 710 another really really great piece But this guy in the middle the crooked river this just something crooked here

Maybe if your hand goes all the way up to here It's perfectly balanced

The Benchmade Crooked River Pocketknife: The Full Nick Shabazz Review

 Hey everybody Nick here and today at a review for you this big old guy right here

 This is the Benchmade Crooked River first off

 I want to thank my buddy Christian for giving me a great deal on this much appreciated Christian next thing size comparison

 Um, this is a biggin absolutely 100% here. It is next to your Spyderco Delica dwarfing your Spyderco Delica

 Here it is next to your steel wheel cut jack three and a half inch dwarfing the steel wheel cut jack three and a half inch

 Right here the Ontario rat number one also much smaller

 And actually let's compare it to a couple of other big ins right here

 This is the ZT 0452 CF so you can see the blade length is slightly shorter on the Crooked River

 Um, and then this is the Benchmade 710 which is another big old Benchmade right about the same in the blade length department

 Let's go on ahead and just jump into it and talk about the good the great the bad and the ugly of your Benchmade Crooked

 River here. So on the good side first off, I do like the blade on this very much

 Um, this is a very nice blade shape with some nice flat area here some nice

 Belly up at the top here a very good transition between them

 I I like this blade shape and with this swedge a little bit of clippitude here

 It's a very attractive blade shape hundred percent. The steel on this guy is

 S30V which is a great steel. It is absolutely solid. It is good to go. No real complaining about S30V

 Maybe it's not ideal for sharpening in some situation, but look, it's a fine steel. No problem there

 Um, it has relatively thin stock which is nice

 I mean, I appreciate that even though this is a huge knife

 The stock on it is actually still a little bit thinner than for instance the PM2

 So that's that's very nice. Um, and it does actually cut things

 Um, it is a little thicker behind the edge than I maybe would like to see but using this guy on cardboard

 So this is not a huge knife that is completely lost track of the ability to you know, actually cut things

 Into which is something I appreciate very much. So that's great next thing

 This is actually nicely designed for the pocket

 Even though it is very large it is not necessarily that crazy in the pocket partly because look at how it's built here

 The clip goes this way the rest of the knife kind of slides off to this side

 And then the knife itself is hanging out sort of against the back of your pocket here, which is something

 But it doesn't feel as big in the pocket as you might otherwise expect so it's clearly been well designed in that way

 Next thing the axis lock as well as having it on washes adds a certain layer of simplicity if you will

 Um that simplicity I don't even know why I said it that way anyways

 Um, it does because it's gonna be more resistant to gunk and dirt in those kinds of environments

 It's been a little while since I looked at an axis lock knife that was not doing anything fancy and there is a certain appeal

 So I appreciate that very much. The other thing that the axis lock brings us here is the ambidextrousness
