Regarding the question of floor size. Apart from weight, one of motivations for 'upgrading' from my 20 year old tent (that I also loved) was because my partner was insisting on having a bit more interior space, especially for the longer treks. Before purchasing, I measured out the advertised dimensions on my garage floor and saw that my old tent was well inside the boundary limits, the CS UL2 had plenty of extra width and length when compared. And yet on the trail, there wasn't as much space as expected

Big differences on the Big Agnes vs the Marmot is going to come down to vestibule space vs floor space and peak height. The Marmot has superior floor space at 93sq ft vs 87 on the Big Agnes.

We use this for two of my kids when backpacking. Very reasonable weight when split between two people. If you want to still be in one tent as your kid gets older, though, a 3p tent may be a little tight.

Instant up tents suck and have bad reviews for a reason. They are heavy, have huge pack sizes and lack mesh walls for breathability. Most are also single walls and have condensation problems. You want a double walled family camping tent like the Marmot Halo 6p, Limestone 4p/6p, Big Agnes Bunk House etx

Customer service is not on par with the price of this equipment. The company has no ability to replace zipper assemblies (the tents are made in China) and the best they could offer was a partial credit towards purchase of a new tent. Guess I'm spoiled by Patagonia's lifetime warranty on their products, where they replace or repair any of their items at no cost.

Big Agnes Bunk House 4p or 6p. Of the requirements you list the Marmot Halo 6p or the Big Agnes Bunk House fit.

Sleeping bag -- If I had no other items to improve, I'd buy a quilt, but I don't think I'll have the money left over for it. Bear Spray -- I am more calm and enjoy the trip a lot more when I have the bear spray.

High peak height, simple design and doormat are nice touches. Peak height is 80". I would consider the Marmot Halo 6p or the Marmot Torreya 6p and the Nemo Wagontop 6p or 8p as well in your search. The Marmot Limestone 8p would also be a solid buy if you need more space for people or gear, but the peak height is lowered to 77"

Solid doors also provide better protection from the wind in crappy weather too. I have the Marmot Halo 6p.
