There is basically no privacy in this tent at all if the rainfly is not on it. I personally like keeping the fly off if it's nice out and I can look out at the stars as I sleep. I don't think I would feel really comfortable doing that in this tent considering the back door is 100% mesh. The front door, I think, is fully mesh too.

This tent is no where near 118x118. It is at most 114x114, maybe 115x115 but thats a stretch. Description is very misleading. Where's the other 3-4 inches for each side? Will be returning the tent, which is a huge disappointment because we liked the tent otherwise, especially the large vestibule.

We have a family of 5 and we love our Marmot Halo 6p. It’s great for ventilation, intense weather, and height.

Also site selection is important. If you can pitch this between trees rather than in the open that will be better. This will have the trees act as wind screens and should provide some more protection. If you need a family camping tent in the wind then I would suggest something more storm worthy like the REI Base Camp 6p, Marmot Halo 6p, Big Agnes Mad House, Sierra Designs Nomad, MSR Habbitude etc.

I love the open airy netting above and have been using it without the rain shell on these warm summer days. I am a little worries about the longevity of the screens/netting as it seems so light but I'm loving it so far!

Instant up tents suck and have bad reviews for a reason. They are heavy, have huge pack sizes and lack mesh walls for breathability. Most are also single walls and have condensation problems. You want a double walled family camping tent like the Marmot Halo 6p, Limestone 4p/6p, Big Agnes Bunk House etx.
