Got 25% off cause the local Walmart is closing. It feels pretty sturdy, I quite like it! I'll still EDC my Boker Urban Trapper, but I'll probably carry this when I know I'll be abusing the knife a bit more.

Local Walmart is closing so I picked up a Buck 110 on sale

 The blade material is going to be vg10 steel and that's gon na be true on any of the Booker urban trapper knives. It'S a kind of a clip point design, satin, finish hello ground. Very attractive blade shape there. The handle length is going to be three point: three, seven, five inches and again I mentioned the handle material is cocobolo

 That'S not you know it'll kind of drop shut. If you shake it a couple times, but plenty smooth for what it is and for the type of use that most people would have for this, so I'm really diggin the series. As far as price is concerned, I think these should be about ten dollars less than they are. I think, to pay ninety to ninety five dollars, a knife with vg-10 steel and a little bit of titanium is maybe just a little high, and that's just my opinion

 So it's three quarters of an inch additional blade length same steel, same hollow grind, the handles gon na be four and a quarter inches in length. The weight is gon na be 1.9, two ounces of just under two ounces, so both of them are very lightweight for size, same liner, lock, and so that's kind of the deal with the urban trappers. The lockups great the flippin action is fantastic on both the petite and the full-sized

 You know you could get a spider coat delica for 75 bucks $ 70, something like that. Get the same blade. Steel you're not gon na get the g10 with a cocobolo you're gon na get FRN, but again to get a big chunk of eg 10 on a delica for 75 bucks. You know you're looking at a $ 25, almost price increase to upgrade to an urban trapper

Overall, I really like the style, weight, and blade; I really want to keep it, but I will not if I can't manage to get that screw out. If it had come with a usable tool and was assembled with better care I would have paid $100 for it and given 4 stars, though, as I received it,

 Many of the screws are torqued tighter than it can grip the screws and also won't come out. I'd expect to be able to disassemble a knife of this price for general maintenance / cleaning and repairs, but I cannot with the tool that came with it. I'm hoping a proper torx tool will still get it apart, but I'm not sure I'll ever get out the one that's stripped, not to mention having to find a replacement screw (may return it in that case).

 Thankfully I was able to get to the important screw holding the blade and loosen the tension a bit. That and a couple dabs of oil and it flips open well for its weight, but didn't out of the box. No play on blade when open, but the liner lock is sticky to release (oil didn't help, its a pretty thin friction surface). The flipper also has a very sharp edge where you pull it which catches your hand in a pocket, and has made my index finger a bit raw just from flipping it a few dozen times for testing and tuning it

 From there you can gently pull up the face on the non clip side, push the stop pin out of the way, and pivot the plate like opening scissors around the standoff to free the blade (pay close attention to the bearings so you don't lose or flip them upside down). If you are going to grind the flipper, gently remove the top bearing from the blade first so you don't ruin or lose it. From there you can clean up the blade, oil the joint, reassemble and enjoy. During re-assembly, play with the tightness of the pivot screw

 To get the blade out you need to pull the blade pivot screw on the not clip side. Make sure you keep the knife oriented clip side down as the ball bearings are facing up in that position, I'm not sure if they would fall out but I wouldn't recommend testing that theory based on how they looked (I'd do this away from carpets or messy areas in case). From there you can gently pull up the face on the non clip side, push the stop pin out of the way, and pivot the plate like opening scissors around the standoff to free the blade (pay close attention to the bearings so you don't lose or flip them upside down). If you are going to grind the flipper, gently remove the top bearing from the blade first so you don't ruin or lose it

Good design ruined by poor assembly

 In addition, for only $89 you can get a gorgeous Sandalwood Handle CIVIVI Riffle with a Damascus Blade 3.5-Inch Drop Point Blade, so I consider this knife overpriced. If your looking for a similar design and very lightweight knife, they I would highly recommend the Samior G1035 Small Slim Folding Pocket Flipper Knife @ $25 & only 1.3oz

Nice Knife, But Overpriced and I Had Some Flipping Problems

This is really a five star knife. So why only four stars? I love the weight. Love the blade shape. For me the blade length is great being slightly longer than my Keyshawn leek as an example, which is a great knife but the blade length on the urban trapper is prefered for some food tasks such as slicing cheese and sausage etc

 So what are these new handle materials? You can get well, of course, the old standby g10. If you like that and then check out that blade, like I said, a little bit more matte, definitely a more of a satin rather than that mirror finish. If you like carbon fiber, they offer you a carbon fiber version again. All of these are really light

All right, hello, welcome good day time for another blade HQ overview. Can I take a second look at the urban trapper as they've introduced several new handle material versions and point out a few minor differences from the original, which is this one right here, and this is the original design by Brad Zink er, and this is a all Titanium frame lock and that's going to be one of the bigger differences. The fact that this one is a frame lock, the new versions are going to be liners. However, the liners are still titanium, you're, just getting a liner lock, rather than the frame lock mixed up

I wouldn't trust the lock to hold under great strain, but this knife isn't for those kinds of jobs. Great knife; a pocket-sized (and weighted) 110

 1) small in size as mentioned above ( but still large enough for reasonable use) 2) light weight 3) very slim profile 4) not "tactical" looking 5) US made This turns out to be harder than one might imagine. Knives tend to be too large, or too military looking for polite use, or most dreadfully made "offshore". Enter the "55". I have long been a fan of buck knives and have a deep respect for the fact that they manage to produce a high quality product in the US while keeping their prices very reasonable

 The good news is that the knife arrived and fits my parameters perfectly; it is small, light, handsome with brass bolsters and polished rose wood scales, but alas the blade was completely dull. I am not a stickler for the sharpness of a knife when it arrives, as I have high standards for sharpness and also understand that you need to be willing to work with a blade over its life. However the 55 that I receive appeared unfinished, the blade seems to have received the the first shaping grind, but none of the subsequent polishing or sharpening grinds, I had to work for 20 minutes on a grinding stone to get the primary bevel in place and another 10 minutes of work before it would cut paper. Once that happened the knife was perfect, I was just a bit surprised and disappointed that this one snuck out the door of the buck factory essentially as an unfinished item

 Like it's big brother, the 55 is superb workmanship, and incredibly sharp. It's very lightweight, but also striking in simplicity and beauty. I find myself not wanting to have this in my pocket everyday, but on occasion, so as not to age it too quickly, but then again, at only around $30, it's easily replaced. I can't say this any more positively than this: If you need a single blade, locking pocket knife, sharp enough to skin deer or whatever, buy this knife! You will love it!

 However, after receiving this knife, I had to review this one. I already have the Buck 110, and have used it in skinning deer, and I couldn't be happier. Superb quality and extremely sharp, but too big for a pocket, and I don't always want to wear the sheath. I was also looking for another pocket knife, but have been somewhat displeased with the stockmans I have, wanting and needing a locking pocket knife for safety
