We feel a bit bizarre labeling the Bose Open Sport earbuds as earbuds because they lack, well, the bud. As opposed to traditional earbuds, these things do not go in your ears so much as they go over and around your ears. We are hardly complaining, though; the unique shape of these buds informs all of the rest of the features we love about them. As they are not stuck in your ears, they are extremely comfortable — so much that we sometimes forgot we were wearing them. The little bit of distance that comes from where the micro speakers are placed relative to your ears adds to a fuller soundscape and some of the most impressive full, warm, and booming bass we have heard out of an earbud. 
By nature of their not fitting directly into your ears, these buds lack the Active Noise Reduction that seems to have become industry standard for most other Bluetooth earbuds. Also, they lack the convenience of a charging carrying case, which is becoming standard among earbud competitors. They make up for this shortfall several times over however with their peak athletic performance. One of our testers was able to hang completely upside down without these devices falling off her ears. The Bose Open Sport is a very unique entree into the earbud field, as they aren't exactly earbuds. They utilize weighted fins that sit on top of your ears, and there aren't buds that go in your ear.  Hey, TeddiK here for the Best Buy Blog, and in this video review we took a look at the Bose Sport Open Earbuds, true wireless headphones that have a unique look and fit and listening experience to match. Despite their name, the Bose Sport Open Earbuds are not earbuds in the traditional or truest sense. There isn't anything kind of burrowing into your ear canal or into your inner ear, instead they rest like ear loops and they stay away from the ear but push music using what Bose calls open audio technology. It's not bone conduction, so this isn't the type of headphones where they would press up against the jawbone and sort of push the music through the bones so that you can hear them that way as opposed to hearing them through the ear

 These aren't like the ear loops that you find in other earbuds that are rubberized or flexible or have some level of adjustment to them. There's none of that. There's no give to this at all. You can't adjust it, you can't angle it, you can't bend it, none of that

 The moment you were outside or you were in a noisier place. I just found callers just didn't like the way I sounded because it was like fighting with some of the background noise. Bose says they've addressed this with microphones that are a little bit more beam forming and directional. But I think a firmware update is going to have to fix that because I just didn't experience that same thing here

 And unfortunately, the only way to know if they're fit works is for you to try them out. As far as their sound goes, it's fairly similar to what you get with Bose's Tempo Frames audio sunglasses, although I thought the sound was slightly better with these, even though their speaker drivers are smaller. The Tempo's employ 22 millimeter drivers, whereas these have 60 millimeter drivers. But I think how they sit a little closer to your ear does improve the sound quality a bit, particularly in the bass department

 The quiet comfort earbuds also have active noise canceling. These, on the other hand, feature an open design without a tip, meaning the bud part sits on top of your ear and fires sound into your ear canal from a short distance away. The earbuds are the first to use Bose's open audio technology, not bone conduction. That's the same technology that Bose uses in its $250 frames audio sunglasses

 I got used to them being on my ears and I found they fit pretty comfortably and securely, though they aren't super comfortable. I was able to run with them without a problem. They stayed right on my ears and they really are designed for running and biking because they leave your ears open so you can hear traffic for obvious safety reasons. There are going to be plenty of people who just aren't going to like how they feel on their ears

 And I will say that these actually sound best at 50 to 75% volume rather than cranking them to 90 or 100%. So you may actually end up getting 6 to 7 hours if you keep the volume in check. These don't have touch controls. Rather, they have a single little button on each bud for controlling playback, though there are currently no volume controls on the buds themselves

Bose Sport Open Earbuds review: looks crazy but sounds good!

 That's not what these are for. Anyone who's going too deep into the sound quality is overthinking things. These are not headphones-for-all-occasions, so if that's what you're looking for, keep looking. The isolation is really impressive though -- even in a quiet room, I can't hear what's being played from these once I'm maybe 18" away from them

 I've been disappointed on several occasions to grab them from my bag only to find them dead. I do hope the charge-in-case functionality other reviewers have mentioned is introduced in a future model; personally I don't mind needing a dedicated charger, but that combined with mediocre battery life is kind of a drag.  I generally use these for walking so haven't put them through the paces of more intense exercise, but am pretty impressed at their stability. It definitely feels like they could withstand more of a beating than I put them through

  Battery life is so-so... haven't done precise testing to get an exact number here, but it feels like the battery life while not in use is only a few days

  These unfortunately seem to be unusable for calls. I like to walk while on calls for work and have had multiple people tell me either the wind noise is so significant they can't understand me, or that the connection is just plain bad (which is always fixed by switching to my phone or my QC headphones).  Battery life is so-so.

 And again, the comfort, it's super uncomfortable. It's not good. That's dumb. That's stupid

 It was weird. It was like a voice was inside my head. These, I mean, these just sounded like a little speaker near my ear. Really good quality, again, but not really giving me the good bone conduction vibe

Bose BONE CONDUCTION!? Bose Open Earbuds: An Honest Review

 It's like I told Bose to make the perfect product for me, so not a Bose hater. Also, to prop up the open buds for my personal experience, my wife, who steals all my earbuds, mostly AirPods, recently grabbed the open buds and would not give them back. I told her I need them for testing, and she glared at me like a rabid animal. I asked her if they're comfortable, and she said not too bad, which means 10 stars

 And unprompted said the sound is pretty good, which is like 15 stars. In our house, I don't hate it is a 9.5 stars. She has little girly ears, so the open buds are a little loose

 A gentle squeeze, not like the brains are coming out of your nose. Bonus, it can hang out around your neck, which I find extremely convenient. It's a personal preference. Earbuds people will counter that they won't fit in your pocket

 The open buds will keep the open ear comfort I've become accustomed to while taking the sound to the next level. That was the hope anyway. These headphones did push the sound a bit, but pooed the bed on the comfort. The Achilles heel really is the rigid design

I bought the new Bose earbuds because of the wing tips. I’m not a huge fan of the type of earbuds where you have to insert it in like an earplug because it really gets uncomfortable for me after like 15 minutes. Now, I’m going to be honest; The sennheisers really sound better. I just love how comfortable the wing tips are on the Bose that I’m willing to sacrifice a step or two below the Sennheisers

Further, on day three of using these, the app "lost" my configuration data for the one and only headset "attached" to it, sending me back through the sign-in/sign-up gauntlet again as if I were launching the app for the first time following install.  Connectivity issues aside, they sound great for being a "not-in-ear" headset. But the app and switching  As of this review, I am hovering on whether to return them

I purchased this to replace my QC-35s (and QC-20s) because the 35s are hot and bulky, and because it was difficult to hear ambient noise around me. These were my second choice to the Jabra Active Elite 65+ which would not stay in my ears, but had MUCH MUCH better app support, and more easily switches between devices. I routinely switch between mobile and laptop communications (Zoom, phone call, Duo, etc.) The Bose would not switch at all

 It took disconnecting and in some cases re-pairing with my two devices to get it to work. No firmware updates as of the date of this review. (FWIW, my QC-35s are infinitely better at switching between devices.)  I don't like to be pestered with "sign-up/sign-in" messages; these are earbuds, no need

Wired, good sound quality, not too heavy on bass, comfortable for wearing nearly all day, (and won't give someone wearing glasses a headache). Preferable would be as cheap as possible, (100$ at the absolute max, 50$ and under ideally), but I know that's asking for a lot lol. Hard to find good electronics these days.  They aren't terribly responsive.  I agree with other reviewers regarding battery life and chargning features. The battery life is TERRIBLE and they do not charge quickly. If you don't leave them constantly charging when not in use, you will be lucky to have 10% battery life when you go to use them
