I wouldn't trust the lock to hold under great strain, but this knife isn't for those kinds of jobs. Great knife; a pocket-sized (and weighted) 110

 1) small in size as mentioned above ( but still large enough for reasonable use) 2) light weight 3) very slim profile 4) not "tactical" looking 5) US made This turns out to be harder than one might imagine. Knives tend to be too large, or too military looking for polite use, or most dreadfully made "offshore". Enter the "55". I have long been a fan of buck knives and have a deep respect for the fact that they manage to produce a high quality product in the US while keeping their prices very reasonable

 The good news is that the knife arrived and fits my parameters perfectly; it is small, light, handsome with brass bolsters and polished rose wood scales, but alas the blade was completely dull. I am not a stickler for the sharpness of a knife when it arrives, as I have high standards for sharpness and also understand that you need to be willing to work with a blade over its life. However the 55 that I receive appeared unfinished, the blade seems to have received the the first shaping grind, but none of the subsequent polishing or sharpening grinds, I had to work for 20 minutes on a grinding stone to get the primary bevel in place and another 10 minutes of work before it would cut paper. Once that happened the knife was perfect, I was just a bit surprised and disappointed that this one snuck out the door of the buck factory essentially as an unfinished item

 Like it's big brother, the 55 is superb workmanship, and incredibly sharp. It's very lightweight, but also striking in simplicity and beauty. I find myself not wanting to have this in my pocket everyday, but on occasion, so as not to age it too quickly, but then again, at only around $30, it's easily replaced. I can't say this any more positively than this: If you need a single blade, locking pocket knife, sharp enough to skin deer or whatever, buy this knife! You will love it!

 However, after receiving this knife, I had to review this one. I already have the Buck 110, and have used it in skinning deer, and I couldn't be happier. I like the knife, however fit and finish on the scales could be better. The blade arrived with a burr, almost seems like they didn't finish sharpening it.

 I mean, the action on it's great. But you know, you want to be able to maintain your own knives. And unfortunately, it's just not as easy on this one as it is with the Capara. I don't know if I mentioned it

 And considering, you know, what these knives cost, it's a nice little extra to be able to do that. You've got, this was the first one, the first compression lock knife that I purchased, the Para 3. It's got the FRN handle and the CTS BD1 steel with an acid wash on it. And I took that sucker apart and cleaned it up, and it's just a great little knife, great snap to it, and it closes just beautifully

 Get open there, baby. My Spydercold Polestar. And I tried to disassemble this to maintain it, and they've used some red thread locker here and on these screws here. And so I wasn't able to get them all out

 And I just said, well, the heck with it. You know, there's nothing wrong with it. I mean, the action on it's great. But you know, you want to be able to maintain your own knives

 All right, guys, that's my review of the Capara. Well done, Alastair. You've done awesome, dude. I think Australian knife dudes are super proud of you, and overall, I think it's a very well-executed piece

 The materials you're getting are S30V on the blade, ground to three millimeters thick, And then you're getting carbon fiber on the handles with stainless steel liners, which is somewhat skeletonized, bronze-phosphor washers on a compression lock system. The compression lock being Spydercos kind of three-piece lock, the leaf spring, that pillar in the middle, and the blade tang Are wedged together by the spring tension of this surface here, making the blade lock in a very authoritative way and also making it So you don't have to use You put your fingers in the blade path when you lock the knife or close the knife back up. So yeah, very, very, you know, pretty popular lock, really. The wire clip is the Spyderco standard wire clip

Spyderco Kapara - New - Full Review, Edge Retention

 This one is too small, the lock, which works great by the way, is pretty awkward and not comfortable to use coming from benchmade/hogue. The "dropshut" action is nice i guess if youve never seen it in other knives but its not enough for me. It feels mini in my hands and its not a mini. The spydie hole isnt where it should be for me to feel comfortable with it, the lock forces my hand to contort uncomfortably to engage it 1 handed
