It worked out great because the same bladder system can be used in our Osprey packs when we thru-hike. These days when we do day hikes of maybe 15km or more, we use them because we have them - it's a convenient way to carry a litre of water, your keys, bug spray, sunscreen and some snacks. But given the type of hikes we do now, I wouldn't go running out to buy a new one.

Curious, do hikers prefer to buy a specific hiking bag for day hikes (water, snacks, and first-aid kits) or any lightweight backpack will do. I noticed some hiking bags offer padded straps and hydration bag , but is it an overkill? Should I stick to something compact and lightweight?

I wore this pack while biking on a rail-trail, hiking around the Red River Gorge area in KY, and doing the Via Ferrata climb in that same area.  I never felt encumbered by the straps and the pack sat nicely in place as I scrambled around.  I did drink ALL of the water on one of the days (again, it was 95F) so if you think you need more volume, consider the larger size.

  I liked having 2 separate compartments, and the clip for keys is nice for making sure they don't accidentally fall out when you're on a chairlift.  The locking lever on the bite valve is great for making sure the pack doesn't leak when you toss it in the car or into a bigger backpack, and the disconnect for cleaning the tube will come in handy later on.

A majority of the straps fit a torso size 26-46 inches. A few go up to 50 inch torso. That still leaves out a lot of customers who need straps to fit their 55 inch torso. Is it possible to manufacture straps that accommodate 55 inch torsos? Or, how about accessory strap extenders if cost is an issue?

 The included bladder is a good one — a partial plastic frame and a handy clip keeps it from slumping when half full, the filling port is easy to open and fits ice cubes, and there are baffles in it to keep the water from sloshing around while riding. And at the hose end of the bladder, the bite valve allows a decent flow, a switch cuts off flow when needed, and a magnet holds it on the sternum strap.

I put a fair amount of time in the Endo 15 this summer and fall. At 15 liters, it’s one of the larger bike packs that Gregory makes, and it’s a size that I find works well on bigger rides where I want to bring more water, more layers, and more “just in case” type items. Gregory also makes the Endo 10, which (you guessed it) is a 10 liter version that’s essentially the same pack with a shallower main compartment.

But an all-day ride calls for a pack that can carry a lot of weight comfortably, and that’s where the Endo 15 comes in. Fully loaded down, the Endo 15 carries quite well, and if I kept everything cinched down, it did a good job of not swinging around all over the place on rowdier trails.

This is the 2nd one of these I've bought, that have failed. Silly me. First one I used about 15 times, it sprung a leak just in the middle of the bladder when I was deep in the Grand Canyon. This new one I've used 1x before this trip when the hose tore away from the bladder, losing all my water in minutes

Seems to be made from good materials and we’ll see how it holds up. I love Gregory’s system compared to other bladder systems.
